| Well, it does suck and just because we all did it for years and survived doesn't mean it didn't. Two things can be true at once. The before times, with their 9-5 and long commutes sucked. We shouldn't have to go back to that just because. |
| Every boomer I’ve worked with takes literally 10x as long to produce work as their Millenial/Z coworkers. I could hire one Gen Z to do the work of 3 boomers; boomers just do not have the technological experience to navigate new systems quickly, and many require a lot of handholding to master rudimentary computer skills. The sad fact is that most boomer in the workforce have no clue how they are perceived or how much their younger coworkers “work around” that ineffeciency. So when boomers complain about lazy Gen Z, it’s hard not to roll your eyes; like yes Beatrice, you work 40 hours a week and 20 of them is figuring out how to edit a PDF for docusign while your millenial boss quietly asks your Gen Z coworker to just “do it and send it me directly”. |
If you are fortunate to remain healthy and live long enough, then some day that will be you. I know you swear it won't, but I'm confident those boomers thought the same. |
The youngest Boomers are 60 so you won’t have to deal with them much longer. Just keep hiring -and hiring- and hiring as your younger folks keep jumping ship to the next better offer. |
I certainly will! But unlike boomers, I won’t be deluded enough to think my “40 hour week” doesn’t actually represent half the productivity of my younger cohort who make 3/4 of my salary. The fact that boomers don’t recognize the audacity of their “hard work” claims when everyone around them is forced to manage their technical incompetencies is a symptom of the hopelessness of that entire generation. But yes, we will continue to listen to you blather about lazy Gen Z and hopefully you can continue your “hard” work of figuring out Excel spreadsheets while we just quietly finish the job. |

Remember when they banned child labor and everyone was all "but the kids help keep our family financially solvent?" and now we look at that time as barbaric and insane?
That's how some of you sound. |
I didn’t know Janet Yellen was on DCUM. Even a broken clock is right twice per day. How many times is the serious recession call going to be 6 months away…then another 6 months…then another. |
I don't understand what the problem is either: I, too, moved to NYC in my twenties for a job, and even though I worked longer hours than Brielle did for very little money, I still had plenty of time after work to go to dinner, work out, etc. She could be living it up for approximately four hours after work every weeknight if she gets out at 5.00pm. That said, from a systemic perspective, our economic system could definitely use some reform. |

Gen Z has renamed itself.
The Petulant and Whiney Generation |
Transient skills. AI to replace quickly. AI sees you as non-essential. |
So you can create a signature page. But you have no idea how to do the deal or how to execute it. You are soon to take over the world! |
I am with PP…boomers don’t know how to do the deals or execute them either. Look, there are boomer owners of P/E shops, but even they no longer do the deals anymore and leave that to the young guns. |

Gen Z is extremely entitled.
And addicted to their phones! |
Funny - I graduated college 35 years ago in the Bay Area and we all lived in dumps with roommates and considered ourselves lucky to afford anything. |
I LOVE how Gen X doesn’t even exist in your little dream worlds. Just like we Gen Xers were told growing up: You are just not going to matter. No one cares! In our younger years, we were upset, but now we can just sit back and laugh! |
