It was literally the first issue Krukoff listed! Come on people, let’s do better next time. DC Issues Public Safety/Support Police and the Rule of Law: Crime is on the rise. We must invest in police and empower them to do their jobs, with empathy, but with the knowledge that we have their back. We need more police officers on the beat. A cost benefit analysis must occur prior to anyone breaking the law, even for a minor offense. Homeless encampments must be appropriately removed. Clean shelters with wrap around services must exist and be utilized for DC homeless residents that qualify. https://www.davidforward3.com/about-5 |
there was a carjacking last Monday at 7.15am during rush hour on connecticut avenue in 5500 block. a woman driving a car rear handed a commuter and when the guy came out of the car to exchange insurance info a bunch of armed guys came out of the woman's car and carjacked the driver of the rear ended car. all this according to the news at 7.15am on CT avenue in rush hour traffic. the irony is that I had some concerning encounters in the metro in the past months (crazy people doing strange things) and a few times i decided to go to the office by car because it was safer. Guess I need to bike more often |
Look, a Republican, commercial real estate developer, self-described private school "lifer" who moved to MoCo to send his kids to school then came back after they went to college to run for office as a Republican, is not going to get elected here no matter how much he talks about crime. It should have been Goulet, who also was talking about the crime issue then (and now). |
| Agree that it should have been Goulet, who was talking about crime and city revenues. He got unfairly demonized by the crazy faux progressives. |
| Funny thing. As crimes in upper Northwest have spiked, the number of those “woke welcoming” yard signs has definitely fallen. |
I voted for him. I read the platforms. |
I would have been fine with anyone tough on crime, but how you describe Krukoff is not that atypical of many Ward 3ers. He wasn't running as city-wide, he was running for ward 3. Maybe public school wouldn't be at his forefront, but I haven't seen ANY Councilmembers really give a fig about it including Cheh. I figure he would take on a lot of the crime issues we are discussing now, and might have been right - for right now? |
That's nice... |
So would have Goulet. I don’t think you can underestimate the public school angle though. The biggest public elementary, middle and high schools are in 3. |
| The real question is how we take down the Greater Greater Washington lobby. They endorse and promote these faux progressive candidates who care only about bike lanes. Based on what I've seen, the group has not made DC greater. Quite the opposite. |
I am guessing he would pay attention to education though - you have to address it somewhat as a City Councilmember. Maybe he'd have some good ideas from private school. Some fresh ideas in DC might be nice, given how things are going... |
Get them off the ANC and support the 'counter groups'--likely we need to donate. |
GGW has recruited faux progressive ANC members who fulminate about the police and make excuses for crime but then turn around and vote like property rights Trumpers for any big development project that comes along. |
Don't forget the bike lanes! |
I don't care if the candidate has been living on Mars for the past two decades, if they have the ability to successfully address crime, homelessness, substance abuse, school truancy and other problems, I'll vote for them (and I did vote for Krucoff). I don't need my candidates to have sent their kids to public school, I need them to make educational success a priority and to figure out how to empower experts in the field to do what's right for our schools. If you start making residency in DC for a prolonged period of time or sending your kids to public schools a litmus test for candidacy, you're going to miss out on people who might be able to take us in a better direction. |
