I like the suggestions of an LAC in the Midwest. Maybe not Carleton or Grinnell, which are academically intense, but Denison, Lawrence, Kenyon, Wooster, Macalaster, Oberlin, or St. Olaf.
Going to a school that is not T20 will not hold her back. One of my best friends sent their first child to a very demanding, elite school. The kid did well but was so stressed she advised her younger sister, who was accepted to the same school, not to go there. The younger sibling chose Luther College in Iowa instead. My friend was disappointed, but her DC had a fabulous four years and got into a top medical school. There are many excellent schools where a kid can be happy and do well without spending four years in a pressure cooker. |
