I got Bottle Caps from the ice cream truck at Mohican Pool in the 70's. The Root Beer ones were the best.

Love it! 💕

Sadly they have not brought back the NECCO conversation hearts. Those were yummy because they were softer than NECCO wafers but with the same dusty sugar taste that I love.

Really? Are there imitators out there? I thought they were still available around Valentines Day. Sorry.

Brach's makes conversation hearts, and Sweet Tarts made them for a while, but I haven't seen the NECCO ones. Would love to know where you've seen them!

OMG I thought of these when I read this thread but couldn't remember what they were called. They were very expensive compared to the penny candies growing up, but I bought them once. They were DISAPPOINTING!!!!

Not a candy but a candy FORMAT: those Lifesaver books at Christmas time used to have a roll of every single kind of Lifesavers, including Butter Rum. No more. Sigh.

Not necessarily a candy - but back when I was a kid (late 70’s), I used to love the gum called “Freshen Up!” 😋

The gum were once in your mouth it would immediately release a squirt of flavor from inside the actual gum square!

I also used to like the sticks of gum w/the zebra stripes that came in multiple colors.
Though I liked them only for the first 15 seconds of chewing them!!
Because after that > those gum sticks had the same flavor as the wrappers that they came in!!
Blech!

My favorite actual candies included “Good & Fruity” candy drops which were made by the same company that manufactured “Good & Plenty.”

I also liked Boston Baked Beans as well as those candy sticks that sold for between a nickel to a dime a pop….
They came in EVERY imaginable flavor (Root Beer, Cinnamon, Butterscotch, etc.)

What a great thread. I haven’t thought about button candy or wax bottles in probably 25 years.

"Yikes! Stripes! Fruit Stripes Gum!" was the commercial for the gum with the zebra stripes. If I remember correctly, cartoon zebras were saying the logo.

Was the other gum with the liquid called Tidal Wave?
