We are also Cap Hill and I didn’t realize till hours later that we did actually hear it. We just had a full house - two college students and three tweens. I just thought someone jumped or dropped something. It was loud though! Did not feel anything like the earthquake.

| This is a weird news story- not the boom- but the plane flying 300 mi the wrong way, turning around and going over DC, pilot (and perhaps passengers) unconscious then finally crashing in VA. |
Is it scary that no one caught onto the situation until they did? If it hadn’t flown over the no fly zone/ part of DC, how long could it have been flying with no one knowing that it was unpressurized and everyone was unconscious? |
| Never fly in a private plane with only 1 pilot… |
Frightening |
| I was in Lynchburg and Amherst today around 2-4 and didn’t hear it…. |
| I yelled at my daughter.... |
I thought my daughter was doing some dumb Tiktok |
The boom was from the fighter jet so you would’ve heard it in the DC area. |
They may have never known they were unconscious and a different reason for a crash would be reported. |
| How did it go 300 miles in the wrong direction and THEN turn around? |
How about you not rush to judgement yourself? Pot. Kettle. |
I don't think it went three hundred miles in the wrong direction? Looks like it flew to its destination and then not only didn't land, it turned around. Very weird. I was reading some aviation nerd reddit posts and it sounds like that's a feature of autopilot? |
Sorry I must have misread. The reporting is confusing at best. |
Really? |
