Well if Twitter says it and it’s on the internet it must be true |
| I heard a loud boom a few minutes just after 3pm in Hyattsville. I thought maybe a transformer blew or something. |
But there’s no way I would have heard that from Hyattsville. |
Or Lorton or Centreville... |
|
Felt it in West Springfield - thought one of our giant oak trees had fallen. All the neighbors came out to see what had happened.
Very curious what it actually was! |
| Capital Weather Gang is on it. It looks like an F-16 went supersonic over the Bay but that doesn’t explain all the people in Northern VA |
|
So loud! Shook the blinds and rattled windows.
- in Burke |
From Prince William County through Fairfax, Arlington, and PG County to Annapolis That's quite a boom. |
| Huge boom in Crofton as well - waiting to see how long it takes for the news cycle to pick it up. Crickets everywhere so far - DCUM is always my most up to date source |
|
Oddly, I heard no sirens so I presume it is/was an expected boom (controlled implosion of an old building for example?).
|
It's all over Twitter and Google now too. As well as DCUM. |
Surely, wtop reporters (and other local news agencies) heard it too. Couldn't they post a headline like "investigating super boom sound that shook DC area" or something? |
Check Twitter. Fox 5 and more are on it. |
| We felt it in Centreville! |
|
Big boom also experienced in Burke, VA.
Capital Weather posted on Facebook that they heard it too, and it wasn't weather related. |
