A lake community (can’t remember) near the foothills of Mt. Fuji. Woke up early in the morning before sunrise and run along the lake shore with its serene views and mild fog. Very calming. |
It was foggy and misty when we went and yes it felt surreal. Besides that I would say Iceland, esp the volcanic island we went to. Like Hawaii and Scotland meshed together. |
I've been very lucky to travel to about 60 countries (Pan Am flight attendant after college and have owned a travel company for the past 8 years). I've been to most mentioned here and although some are certainly in my top 10, the most beautiful place I've ever been is Antarctica. I was on a luxury expedition this past March and truly, standing on the shores of Antarctica and seeing nothing man-made but only God's created beauty left me truly speechless. |

I'm curious what are the 9 others in your top list? |
Same! I would also like to hear about being a Pan Am flight attendant, and your travel company. |
I immediately thought of Ronda, Spain when I saw this post. Absolutely stunning. |
I’ll third Harpers Ferry viewed from Maryland Heights. On nice weekends it’s overrun with people. I went up there on a weeknight for sunset and it was amazing. Best part…I had it all to myself. |
A lot of mine are already here, so I will add a new one- lakeside in Maine at sunset with Mt Katahdin framing the scene. I’ve been to bigger and more spectacular mountains, but the moment was just right. |
Eagle Beach in Aruba was the most beautiful beach w turquoise, clear almost still water.
Tuscany had the most breathtaking views. Central Texas has the most gorgeous summer sunsets. It's hotter than hell but every time we come home from anywhere, I remember this being one of the reasons we stay. |
Lucky to have seen many beautiful places:
Yellowstone Going to the sun road Haleakala North rim Bryce Mt fuji Chamonix Somehow, these eclipse the lovely cities I've seen. |
Altiplano Bolivia
Lake Titicaca Rio |
Taormina, Sicily
Amalfi Coast Taking the train along French Riviera Phuket, Thailand |
Aww,..,I just finished reading the book Come Fly the World about the Pan Am era. Loved it. I was fortunate enough to fly Pan Am Clipper class to Europe in the 1970's. I still have dreams about the boarding process at JFK. It felt like a true embarkation on a fabulous journey. Anyway, one of my friends just got back from Antarctica and felt the same way as you described. Thank you for posting this. |
