Right it's more like 360,000 than 320. |
If somebody offers you
1 Stanford degree 2 Emory degree + $300k cash. Which one would you take? |
Stanford |

Unfortunately, the soon to be Stanford grads we know have done really well on the tech and finance job markets. Those whose job offers were rescinded quickly collected new offers. The non-Stanford kids are scrambling. Who knows why, but there it is. |
Anecdotally, the kids who go with the tier 2 full ride over HYPSM tend to have remarried dads with a young kid. The new wives fight hard against private school options for their DH's kid and often win. |
Parent of a Stanford grad. It was worth every penny. The connections and the job opportunities are amazing. |
I know some ne’er do wells who graduated Stanford |
You can get similar at Emory + $300K |
If your major is Computer Science or Engineering, go with Stanford.
If you think you may one day be seeking angel investors from venture capital for your startup company, go with Stanford. Otherwise, It’s probably not worth the huge price difference over Emory, which is a great school in its own right. |
Also, you have to consider personality. If your DS is an ambitious striver, Stanford may be worth the extra investment. |
Disagree... poor kid who went to Stanford. It opens doors. |
Stanford |
This strikes me as very similar to the W&M vs fill ride JMU debate. Lots of ppl told OP to go JMU. Is the difference just that it’s Stanford vs being a school considered however many spots “better” than the free ride school? |
like people I know buy $5K channel bag and 80K Mercedes when they are barely a middle class it's their choice their life |
