a new thread about Casey DeSantis's strange fashion choices

I think it's a rules-are-not-for-me vibe. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it's just weird or seems inappropriate. But it certainly seems like she thinks she's the Queen-apparent.

Honestly that’s why her fashion sense seems kind of strange. The formality she prefers is weird for Florida.

Case in point, the Serena Joy dress is REALLY formal for surveying hurricane damage.

This is also a very summer evening wedding guest dress, worn to a daytime business event.

I think her problem is she doesn't really dress for the occasion, she dresses how she wants for the occasion. Sometimes that's okay, but when she's visiting the site of a catastrophe or at a serious event, she doesn't quite get the tone right.

She doesn't need to dress for the occasion. GOPs love a woman who is put together in a very feminine way, traditionally pretty. They will come to hear him and gawk at her. That's why Trump has a certain type he likes to surround himself with. The stylist they hired for DeSantis understands the role she will play.

I'm OP - and I do, too.

Can we speculate on her cape budget?

Like are these $$ dresses or are these from TJ Maxx? (No shade on TJs.)

True, but I'd dress up too if I were touring with the President and VP. She's probably having lunch with them after.

Jill and Joe are dressed more appropriately.

I guess at least she's not wearing a pith helmet.

Melanie must have been real mad about being upstaged with that Lil Princess dress

I don't think that's what's happening.

Yeah, she has the veneer of polish that a bit of money can impart, but scratch the surface and she's LMC all the way.

As a Democrat, having come from a LMC background isn’t the insult you seem to think it is.

I don't have a problem with this, unless the ball gown is for afternoon tea and the part where Ronnie plays the part of Prince Charming.

And this is the problem with being catty about appearances because you think it's allowed because you don't like someone.

Inevitably you end up unwittingly offending or insulting and alienating people around you who you think are on your side.

For instance, I'm fair skinned and have ditched girls who make comments about other girls looking too pasty. Not a direct comment to me, but enough to know that people who spend time tearing others down over appearances aren't helping me feel good.

Well then perhaps a different thread would be more to your liking! We have a fine tradition of inspecting and critiquing the clothes of political figures here, and some of us enjoy it even if not every comment is one we'd endorse.

I also strongly disapprove of weird classism (I have no idea Disney Evita's family background and think more of people who didn't start on third base, anyway). But I can still appreciate a good thread of weird fashion on public figures, and critiquing the clothes themselves and how they fit in with the figure's image and self-conception.

Love the expressions on the people around her. They look thrilled, just thrilled, to be there.

Be honest

I wrote that and I'm not a Demcrat, I'm an Independent. I'm not on your side or the Republican side.
