Funny, almost every liberal I know has been in a long, happy marriage. Only exception was the Catholic aunt who divorced the abusive drug addict she had to marry when he knocked her up back in the 1980s. The conservatives I know? Whew. Like a Springer show. Punching down is such a favored past time because their lives are such a joke. Kids are a mess. Multiple baby mammas, drugs everywhere. Real family values crowd. |
| I guess if this is a serious issue we can go back to shaming premartial sex. |
| Poligamy. |
| Salvation Army homes for unwed mothers. |
| Mother and baby homes. Ala Irish Catholic infanticide farms. |

Single motherhood is about fathers, not about mothers. So obviously the right answer is to incentivize fathers being present and disincentivize fathers leaving their children.
We should use the tax code to make it easier and more lucrative for families to remain intact. Abandonment of children should be criminal, and as a society we should use social norms to shun bad fathers. It should be very difficult to shirk parental duties. |
Sorry, america needs to learn a bit from the old world that the apple does not fall from the tree that far! Bastards can redeem themselves but should know about their parents failings |
There is a happy medium between abstinence and only fans single mom culture |
I hope you at least have the integrity to say these things out loud, in person, outside of a "safe space". But you don't. |
Where do you live honey? |
Do you mean "polygamy"? |
I am not this pp, but same situation. My GOP family members are all divorced and living in the deep south. Almost all now claim to be "born again" evangelical but they don't marry their midlife partners, which is just as well, because most only last for a few years before they move on. Kids are unfortunately on the same path and not inclined to marry. Fortunately family members have stayed away from drugs, but my old friends haven't been so lucky--theyvare also mostly divorced, living paycheck to paycheck, and doing drugs when they can afford them. My sibling and I got out, went to college, became liberal democrats eventually, married our spouses in our 20s, and are still married to our original spouses 20+ years later. |
Okay, but it's still a different family structure when a sperm donor is used and there is no father at all to rely on and you're planning on that from the get go. That particular group (which does not include me) ahs their own set of issues and I'm not going to drag them into this misogynistic free for all. |
| Might be useful to remember that many single mothers are only single on paper, for tax and benefits purposes. Eliminate these and the rates will drop. Those who are truly single will stay single no matter what; the rest will tie the knot, most likely |

Men who decide that fatherhood isn't for them and leave women holding the bag is a problem.
Women who decide to have children and can raise them isn't a problem. |
