It is the case for more than one of those students that there were not admitted to TJ but are telling people they rejected their offer of admission. |
He did apply as a Basis 8th grader and the ridiculous reject decision from TJ troubled him for a while. TJ however admitted Sam Wang who was also a math genius from Basis. Both of them ended up in MIT. |
He supposedly was rejected because he missed the deadline for teacher recommendations. TJ admissions is very strict about deadlines. |
Definitely can confirm this. |
I expect they'll be able to field stronger teams now that their selection process rewards talent instead prep or test buying. |
All resources, e.g., mentors, food, travel expenses, are coming from SO parents. FCPS does not invest in this after-school program. No one to blame other than parents if a team is not strong enough. Period. |
TJ has been doing fine in state-wide Scholastic Bowl and other science competitions (with teams composed on kids selected under the old process). You really are a one-trick pony. Are you on retainer to FCPS? |
How does the new selection process measure talent, besides having taken algebra in 8th grade? |
Indeed, but for sports and Music teams, not Academics. Go Colonials!!!! |
Except they are rejecting talent rather than rewarding it. |
Did they keep that name? Bonitatibus sent a letter to parents saying the name “Colonials” should be jettisoned. |
What I’m saying is that not all the top ones got in. I’m not saying that the ones that got in aren’t top. |
It has not been officially removed but the school largely stays away from it. |
