Why is my old neighbor mowing his lawn almost every day. Do I have recourse to report him?

I doubt you are going to find any county noise ordinance that allows you to force your neighbor to stop mowing daily.

Talking to him in a CIVIL (which means calm yourself completely and do not go in accusing) is your best chance for success.

Keep your goal in mind (getting him to mow less often) and wipe what you think you are entitled to out of your head before you approach him. That's key if you want any chance of achieving your goal.

My money is on kids who “play” in the yard screaming like banshees.

^^^
I had a neighbor who seemed to be mowing all the time when we moved in. I'll take it any day over idiot barking dogs, or neighbors who send the kids out to stand around screaming at the top of their lungs all day every day.

Your kids are outside screaming again, go bring them in

Documenting a man mowing his lawn?

I am praying that PP is being sarcastic

NP. People who want children to be completely silent while playing in their backyards are the same people who want to report neighbors “to the authorities” for mowing their lawns. You get that, right?

This thread makes me want to take the muffler off my lawnmower.

Yawn.

There's a long line between shrieking and screaming as loudly as possible as often as possible, and being "completely silent while playing in their backyards". You get that, right?

Are there any rules on this, I understand once or twice a week but almost every day is excessive.

He is retired probably age 60+

Do you live on Dufief Drive??? If yes, I know who the is.

Our constant lawnmower is the husband of the HOA president. There are far worse noises so I approach this with curiosity, rather than annoyance. I still can't quite figure it out.

Don't even do that. It's a silly request.

I don't have time to talk to him and he is not very pleasant, he constantly complains about the neighbor behind him putting up a new fence. I'd rather let the authorities deal with him.

We’ll, there’s your answer. He’s mowing his lawn every day to p!ss off the errant fence builder. Go ahead and complain to him. I’m sure the story of how he proceeds to p!ss you off will be just as entertaining

How is someone in their 60s “elderly”?

There is no day that I don't hear lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers, etc. You just cannot be serious here. And yes, I somehow manage to work from home.

So the issue is that everyone uses landscaping companies who zip in and out in 20 min , this guy takes at least an hour to mow almost everyday next door. I am ok with landscapers zipping in and out throughout the neighbors but an hour a day next to my window is way too much. Whats funny is he is very into social causes like the environment as noted by his car stickers, but burns his gas mower.

This is what you're upset about- one hour a day??

“Reaching out and documenting” what? You can’t make false reports against people who are not violating laws. That’s called harassment.

Good thing that’s not what anyone said then. Your kids can play outside, not “silent,” but not continuously screaming at the top of their lungs like they’re being murdered. It’s called parenting.

And I think the lawnmower complaint is idiotic, and have said so. But good try!

Good lord op. At least you are awake. I hate the chorus of lawn services going off at 7/8am in the summer but I’ve never complained to my neighbors about it. Get a life.
