She wasn’t just “on” The Office, she was a head writer. She wrote 26 episodes more than any other writer. So give credit where it is due, at least. She got her start writing/performing her own work, and that led to The Office. You don’t have to like her but to say she was lucky to be “on” a show she helped to write and shape and guide is absurd. |
I’m South Asian and much older than Mindy. I have loved watching her success. I admit that the whitening of her identity makes me sad though. |
\\I think you're a skinny girl who just *hates* when fat girls get skinny because it makes you feel less special. I cannot tell you the number of friends who dropped me when I lost 50 lbs and kept it off. |
She's Indian. DCUM *HATES* Indians. |
I believe her dad lives with her. |
What skin lightening? She is just as dark as she has always been. I am also Indian, and my skin is lighter than it was 20 years ago, too. It's not because I bleached my skin, it's because I started wearing sunscreen every day like my dermatologist told me to! Also, makeup nowadays is light reflecting which is going to make your skin look lighter in photos. I wish she'd given her children Indian names, but why are you complaining about her giving her child "uber preppy" names and not your neighbor Ellen giving her kids these names? Or your neighbor Jessica naming her kids Aiofe and Graeme? Or your friend Katherine who loves yoga naming her daughters Shanti and Gita? |
You again! Shut up, why do you hate this woman you've never met so much? What is wrong with you that you have a vendetta against some random actress? |
+1 |
Plus she’s leagues beyond any of the harpies posting harsh criticisms. She has no idea who you are and doesn’t care because you are nothing to anyone… maybe your kids love you and care about you but that’s about it. |
Yep this. |
Sure she did. We all know ruthless strivers would never exaggerate their role in anything or weaponize being an underrepresented person in a white male dominated space. It's just pure coincidence she's never made anyone laugh or showcased any talent what so ever after The Office. Must have wasted 100% of her genius on that show. lol |
She’s brilliant and deserves every ounce of success she’s got. I don’t love some of the Hollywood ass kissing she does but she plays the game and is a strong, creative genius of a woman. I used to read her blog back in the first like year of the office when she had money for the first time and would buy stuff, like a DVF dress or a mini cooper, and be like I’m fancy AF now! |
She’s good at what she does, has broken barriers, and has made stars of fellow South Asians like Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. I just do not understand her apparent desire to suppress her own identity though - can’t get much whiter than the names Katherine, Spencer, and Anne (not to mention shortening her name to Kaling). |
Ordinarily I’d agree. But Mindy Kalibg isn’t one of those “not everyone”s that you are referencing, She would actually love nothing more than to look like a kardashian, and she’s made no secret of that. |
Don’t you though? She isn’t Gen Z or Gen Alpha. She’s Gen X. |
