I think she does the best she can re identity. It was *hard* growing up here in the 80s and 90s. I’m mostly anti religion but I wonder sometimes if it’s because I just didn’t want to be Hindu and be different in yet another way when I was a kid. Many of us do have identity issues. There weren’t enough of us to have a culture. So we picked what we were around. We are third culture kids. There is nowhere we truly fit in. Do you think everyone was valuing diversity like they do now?? Would I name my kids Anne and Catherine? No. But I surely do some things that someone else thinks makes me less Indian or not proud of myself. I am proud of my culture and family but it took a lot of effort to get there. I have loved what she has done with her shows (except maybe that her characters generally like white guys). But she has given representation to stories that are really good and never would have been told. Leave her alone. |
Sure, pages and pages of people just agreeing with each other. Lol |
lol. Page after page of posts saying that relationship is fake and Travis is called a white trash dolt. |
Yeah, but speaking as a chubby Indian-American woman myself, I'd like to see myself represented by an actually nice, non-self-aggrandizing chubby Indian-American celebrity. |
This made me laugh. I'm not a Mindy fan but I agree with this 100% |
People in thread really are threatened by Indian-American women who do well for themselves. |
I read that blog too! I love Mindy and am impressed by her obvious intelligence and wit. Truly surprised she had to resort to sperm donors for children but happy she gets to have her own biological children in her own timeline. |
Unwed and making babies in a lab. Dream big. |
Are you STILL mad that Mindy Kaling can't be affected by your racism? You are so threatened it's sad. |
Oh sweetie, you wish you had the millions of dollars that she has and you know it. |
It’s so so good |
Seriously, fat women with money seem to really piss everybody off. |
+1 she didn’t find the right partner so built her family on her own terms. Good for her. And had them herself, no surrogate. Btw her choice also means she retains control of her fortune, which is smart. No gazillions in child support to lame male partners like so many wealthy female celebs. She very smart. |
Fame is also horrible. Most people don’t want to be famous. For her community especially, her parents are the ones with the esteemed career here and money since they are doctors. I would bet Mindys fans are latte liberals and Tiktokers not the Indian American community |
Thank you. Maybe she wants to be taken seriously |
