Don’t worry! They did it to my private school DC as well! |
Don’t jump to conclusions. Many of these admissions people are like poker players. They won’t expose their hand and won’t let you know what they are thinking. It could be, they have seen enough to already know that this is a candidate they like. |
+1. DC was admitted from public last year. Interview was not particularly memorable (interviewer did not appear super enthused or disinterested). I doubt you can glean much from just the interview about chance of acceptance. |
I don’t think liking or disliking a single admissions video is very indicative of fit. However, I’m not sure what exactly is “surprising” about sending a goofy admissions video to applicants… |

I was in a bad mood but watched that video and now I’m not. 🤔 Thanks for sharing! |

Cute |
Our interviewer told us that most of the kids admitted last year were from public, not private. But who knows what this year will look like. |
For 9th last year they only took about 2 from Deal and about 438,893,567 applied. |
| That video is terrible, and most SSSAS parents are embarrassed of it. I'm shocked it is being pushed forward as representative of our wonderful school. |
Why? It wouldn’t make me change my direction and apply there but it certainly isn’t offensive. It showed kids having fun. |
It’s definitely cringey, but not a game changer for us with a 9th grade applicant. |
That many applied huh? Interesting. |
I thought it was creative. |
I liked it too! |
If that's the stance of "most SSSAS parents," then to me THAT'S what's a bad sign about the school community - talk about taking oneself way too seriously. I thought it was cute and a nice reminder that these are places to education 5-18 year olds, which shouldn't (just) be solemn and scholarly places. |
