WashU vs Emory

By any measure Wash U is not better than Emory.

And Cornell isn’t better than either. Except if you want to freeze, or study hotel management (wow, running a Marriott is so hard).

Emory is top 5 in a number of healthcare areas.m Public Health and Nursing to name a few).

Wash U is top is trying protect yield.

Cornell is top 5 bridge jumping. If it weren’t part of that sports league, it would be the same as Ithaca College. No one would want to go there.

And yet Cornell has about 61 Nobels, is one of our nation's research powerhouse, and has STEM programs that completely outweigh either WashU or Emory. Its programs in humanities and social sciences also consistently outrank WashU and Emory. Try again.

Also, isn't it weird to be a middle aged woman like yourself making fun of kids committing suicide? I would expect better, but then again, it's DCUM. And, no, Cornell isn't even tops in student suicides. You're truly pathetic.

I also feel like it's worth saying that I am NOT a Cornell grad or parent. I went to a school in the South. I just think it's really, really bizarre all the unwarranted Cornell-bashing that happens from schools like yours desperate to claw their way into the "elite", whatever that even means.

The reality is that many of these students attend late August through early June at latest then go home or up the eastern sea board for internships. Visited a # of schools from Virginia to Georgia over spring break last year and had forgotten just how lovely spring is down there.

Yeah, we had some ice storms, etc, when I lived there but it wasn't a daily phenomenon. So I can see why the balmy spring weather appeals to some students. At the end, neither of our DCs was interested in attending school in the south so never really wrestled with possible downsides.

And the poster is correct. Look at avg test scores with these schools. Vanderbilt, Duke and Rice are the same or higher than all the Ivys. Emory is the same as the lower Ivys.
