Loose skin following fat loss

Anonymous
I’m in my 50s and recently lost 10 pounds of fat and gained a bit of muscle over a period of six months by strength training and cleaning up my diet. I feel great but I’ve noticed that the skin on my stomach and legs is now saggy and loose, which surprises me because I haven’t lost a ton of weight. Is this temporary or permanent? Anything I can do? I drink lots of water, take collagen, and use moisturizer.

Body butter and drink more water.

It's mostly permanent. Especially the older you get.

I follow a number of women on Instagram who have lost weight and show their loose skin. Some have only lost 20 pounds. It can make a difference on frame and genetics. Many women are having skin removal surgery once they are in maintenance.

* Or they just wear shapewear and body suits daily to keep the skin tucked in.

Ah well. My vanity goal was to feel confident in shorts again. I guess that ship has sailed

at a certain age (different for everyone), you become comfortable in your own body and are confident no matter the shape.

THIS!!! This is success. This is self-love. This is fscking beautiful.

If you want an object, go buy one. If you want a limited-edition, OOAK me? This is it. My body doesn't exist solely as a pleasure object for anyone but me. Nobody else is entitled to my body, let alone my body looking a certain way.

You go girl. I’m sure that felt good. Now maybe someone can answer OP’s question.

I am 49 and have lost 60 pounds. I started making tallow and use it on my body and face along with castor oil. It has made a huge difference. Also, fasting truly helps. I do a long fast once a month following my period. Think 5-7 days. This helps “eat” the excess skin.

I have a small amount from a 45 pound weight loss at 48. I barely notice it, so I doubt others are looking at it. How much skin could be sagging from 10 pounds?

Also, since I'm a 51 year old woman, no one is looking at me at all, much less investigating every inch of my body for imperfections. I'm not going to cover my arms and legs at the height of summer because my body looks a little different than it did when I wore the same size 30 years ago.

But yes, feel free to fast for 7 days per month (!) I'm sure that will fuel those strength workouts.

How did you lose the 60 pounds?

Are you saying you slather your face and body with animal fat? Surely you're not serious.

If you're this ugly to an anon online, you must be fscking hideous in real life. No amount of pretty makes up for being a snarky csnt.

OP here and this thread has taken a nasty turn. Thanks to those who offered suggestions instead of judgement or insults. I’m sorry if my post triggered anyone. A little grace goes a long way.

Well this got weird. I’m in the water and body butter camp. But I’ll also add consistency and time.
