| I know this is still a thing, but it seems to be waning. We’re at a notable public and only 20% of the class has posted and many of the students with the best outcomes haven’t posted. I understand the public nature of Instagram - which may be a turnoff to some - but I thought that kids with great results might be excited to post. Any insights about why these kids may not want to? Just curious. |
| My DD does not want to "brag" |
|
We are at Langley and only a fraction of the kids have posted. We know many kids going to Ivy and other top schools and none of them have posted publicly.
I stumbled upon this site during Covid. I remember seeing videos of college seniors sharing where they were going to college. |

Mine at a private.
Hasn’t decided. Most now come near May 1. In at Ivy, T20s and SLACs. Also not sure will even do given the brag effect. |
| I was told by my kid that it was lame, and "we will not be posting". |
| My kid thinks it's tacky. |
| My kid told me they won't be posting til the last week in April. There's still time! |
| My kids private has its own IG account where they post where the kids actually enroll. So the ED are there now. The rest will come once the kids pay the deposit and tell the CCO. |
The private school IGs look more professional. I mean it is part marketing, right? It benefits them to showcase where their students are going. The school probably manages the account. In public, some kid is doing it. |
| My kid graduated from Langley last year. He chose his school in late April and by the time he sent his stuff in whoever was running the site had quit updating. |
| Way more kids posting this year than last-I think it’s fun to see where they are all going, having known these kids since they were little. Just have fun with it! |
| Isn’t the “don’t want to brag” thing a bit lame? Whether or not it’s on Instagram, kids at the high school already know it, and that’s supposedly who the non-posters are trying to “protect.” And, what does it mean to “protect” your lower-achieving peers? Do you think they can’t handle it? That itself is kinda a put down. Also, eventually the kid is going to put it on their LinkedIn. Please tell your kid not to be one of those people who say they go to college in Boston. Just own it. |
Posting acceptances that you’re not going to is tacky. But posting where you’re actually going doesn’t seem so gauche. |
| So many people are waiting on financials, too. |
| At our school kids can submit to the admissions insta page. I’d say 90% of kids who submit are going in state. |
