A beautiful three-later carrot cake with cream cheese and butter frosting. A houseguest had a midnight snack and forgot to put the cake back in the fridge. It was out on the counter for apx. 8 hours.
I should dump it, right? It was so so good and my kids will be so sad re: leftovers this week. But you know, don’t want to poison anyone either. What say you, hive mind? |
Um I wouldn't refrigerate it in the first place.
I don’t refrigerate cake. It’s fine.
Im sure this is fine.
I would keep.
It’s fine. I wouldn’t have refrigerated in the first place.
It's fine. Eat the rest so there are no more leftovers.

It's fine to eat.
+1 Cold frosting is terrible. Please don’t dump that cake. |
Lots of people keep their butter out.
Eat it, yo.
Some of you must waste (or ruin) so much food, and are so paranoid about food safety, it's sad. Of course you can keep it.
Cakes are not refrigerated in the grocery store or bakeries.
A regular buttercream cake would not give me pause, but this thing had 16oz of cream cheese in it (ingredients were just butter, cc, vanilla, sugar). Its really ok? It was SO good and I hate to toss it so if you guys think it's good to go, I will keep it. The kids will be pumped. You know, as long as nobody is getting GI issues from warm cream cheese. -- OP
