OMG Parentvue redesign is so BAD and unusable

As a UI designer basic principles are violated: You can't see everything on one screen, the fonts are huge, the stupid icons are too big and you have to scroll through them.
you used to be able to get all the grades on one screen now you have to click into a different assignment view to get the overview.

Parents do not want to see the stupid grades by week. That's just POOR POOR design.
Why can't MCPS get anything right?

I'm betting they did not hire a UX/UI agency or consultant on this work. MCPS never brings in experts for things they desperately need experts for.

In the absence of experts, you'd think some tests with parent-focus groups would've been done before rolling out such a sweeping change like this....

This is stupid. MCPS doesn’t own ParentVue it’s a 3rd party created tool. Further you can switch the views. And I don’t think most parents care if the grades show by week or individual date.

They may design the dashboard though.

You're an idiot who doesn't know anything about tech clearly. They customize the implementation and they did it horribly.

I like the larger icons, actually. But I hear the critique about needing to fit everything on the screen.

Basic principals aren’t UI designers. They are what UI designers follow.

Why do the grades cut off in the app? You’ll see the first digit of the grade? Why would someone design something like that?

I can’t see anything any more. I log in and it brings me to a screen that is mostly blank. On the top right I have the choice of my account help online registration or logout — that all seems that same as before.
The menu on the left side where I could choose grade book. Attendance, schedule, etc. is totally gone.
There is a drop arrow on the top left but it won’t click. The picture with my kids face is gone. (If I click on my account I can see my kids though, so it’s not that it lost my kids entirely.)

Is anyone else having this problem? I also can’t get into canvas because the left hand side menu is gone so I can’t see anything that my kids might have due.

Given the breadth of MCPS' current problems, this pales. Who cares? Like every other update to any tech, we will get used to it. Let's move on to something actually important, ok?
