I still think it's so strange how sometimes Gaza is an uninhabitable open air prison, and sometimes it's a valuable beach resort that is ripe for outsiders' development.

Really? Confusing? Let's see - imagine a Four Seasons Resort. Pretty nice, right?

Now imagine that Four Seasons resort fenced in, with no more than a trickle of life-sustaining supplies airdropped in, and the entire fenced-in resort has been overrun by serial killers. Not so nice anymore, right? Same place. Different circumstances.

Sincerely, how did you guys ever sell anyone on being better than everyone else? The first "chosen people" utterance should have been laughed outta the room.

Except the people living there could have done whatever the f they wanted there. It's so valuable? Why didnt they invest in it and make it profitable.

Easier to keep your people in misery and blame Israel I guess.

Like you, I have often wondered why incarcerated people have NOT ONCE founded a Fortune 50 business. NOT ONCE. I mean, all that free time. So much free time. Why is Wall Street not just absolutely littered with successful enterprise businesses that have been built from the ground up, right there in ADX Florence. Someone better look into that ...

Somehow there were luxury hotels in Gaza, a luxury mall, a waterpark...so much for a prison. Too bad Hamas bought rockets instead of funding more development.

Are you crazy? People living in Gaza were not *incarcerated*! The media has been full of stories of business owners and homeowners who've lost what they'd worked so hard to build. Do you think someone who's incarcerated also built a thriving business, and owned a home, and had a family?

It's possible to support Palestinians without making yourselves sound like you don't believe in anything.

They overcame a land, sea and air blockade to build all of that? With a belligerent neighbor hellbent on their genocide? Sounds like the jury is in on which side actually makes a desert bloom, eh?

Biden seems to think he will get more Jewish votes by continuing to supply weapons to Israel then the number of Muslim votes he will lose. Well, I am neither Jewish nor Muslim and I am fed up with Biden’s policy on Israel. Come November, I will not vote for him. I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020. The only way I can register my opposition to Biden’s tone deaf policy of facilitating innocent killing of Palestinians is by not voting for him.

Which Democrat would you support?

You don't seem to understand. Voters don't need to pick another horse. They can stay home and not vote. That's my plan. If that helps Trump get elected, so be it.

So you’d rather see Gaza obliterated and Jared building his fancy homes there? Some Einstein-level thinking there.

Ethically, I can not vote for a president who is aiding a genocide, so I'll stay home

Ok, stay home and watch Trump win. Watch Trump and his son in law Jared take control and let the IDF wipe Gaza.
Do you care about the people in Gaza at all?
If you cared one bit about Gaza, you wouldn’t let Jared take control. You only care about yourself.
The goal isn’t to vote for the perfect leader. They are both bad and flawed. The goal is to pick the less evil.

Biden, Trump and even Kennedy are reflexively pro-Israel. Sitting out this election/writing someone in is really your only option for protesting what Israel is doing. Now one might want to ask why the only people you can vote for are pro-Israel.

It's not accomplishing anything though. You're not going to find a pro-Hamas POTUS next time around because you sat this one out. You're basically just hurting your own interests at home since Trump and Biden are so different on US issues...

Trying to equating opposing man made famine to being pro hamas is getting old fast.

It might be hard for you to grasp, but these are the two parties in this war. You're pro-Israel or pro-Hamas. Nobody likes starving civilians.

It may be hard for you to grasp, but total war to eliminate terrorists is a step too far for most people. Civilized countries do not create famines as a means of war

Pro-Hamas or pro-Israel are still the choices. Hamas is absolutely contributing to famine in Gaza and encouraging it.

I am nuanced pro-Israel. Hamas is primarily to blame - and they could have stopped it from happening in the first place, they could end it today, and they could have mitigated the harm.

But I think especially with the WCK killing, it's become clear that Israel cannot in good conscience continue to prosecute this way, they way they are. Israel is right to defend itself, and to eliminate Hamas, but at some point too many other people are dying for this cause. I think many people - even those who are pro-Israel - would say that point was a long time ago. For me, the WCK deaths have really driven home that this just doesn't make sense.

This has increasingly felt like Netanyahu's desperate gambit to hold onto power. Instead, it seems like in addition to killing too many people, it's also destroying Israel. It feels like this has crossed a line - both a moral line, and a public opinion/political line - that is going to be very hard to come back from.

THIS. YES.

For the record, I support Palestinians who are weary and just want to live in peace already, and are prepared to accept compromise. And I support Israelis who want the same thing, and are prepared to accept compromise, too - and more of a compromise than the Palestinians, obviously, to be completely up front about it. Israel will have to give far more than the Palestinians will have to give, given the fact that Israel has already unilaterally taken so much.

As for everyone else, no quarter. Not literally, of course, except for Bibi's government, IDF personnel who have intentionally committed war crimes, Hamas militia members, and other terrorist militia groups in the region. All of those exceptions deserve no quarter in the literal sense. But anyone else on either side of this conflict (including those without direct, personal interest) who cannot make mental room for a large swath of the other side continuing to exist in their view of the future? They deserve to be sidelined in these discussions. Their voice is irrelevant.

Not sure what that has to do with Hamas hiding like cowards in Gaza.

NP. Are you joking? Israel takes responsibility for its mistakes. When has Hamas EVER taken responsibility?? They have failed to give Gazans a better life. They never took responsibility for the lies they told about the misfired terrorist rocket that hit Al-Shifa hospital in October. They have never taken responsibility for USING A HOSPITAL as their command center and their people as human shields. And Hamas has certainly never taken responsibility for the inhumane, unspeakable atrocities they committed on Oct. 7th.

Nope, Hamas in its propaganda and rhetoric pushes ALL responsibility for the suffering of Palestinians onto Israel - as well as all Jews and Americans. Hamas is “always innocent,” always the “victims” at the mercy of everyone else. It’s performative helplessness which allows Hamas to play the perpetual victims - when in fact, they are a murderous gang of thugs and losers. Hamas intentionally killed 1,200 people in one day.

You will never, ever hear Hamas take responsibility for anything. I hope Israel takes out every last one of them.

We'll see in November how some voice are relevant. Shocked and saddened to utter the words, but Joe did this to himself. Geriatric realities aside, he dug his own political grave on this one. And to be honest, with the general scumbaggery (if not criminality) that's emerged regarding his son in the past 3 - 4 years, I wouldn't expect anyone but maybe Jill to emerge relatively unscathed from this hurricane of political self-destruction.

It sounds like you're not discerning between Hamas and regular Palestinians. If that's the case, I hope you'll rethink that troubling statement.

But, that's also wherein the problem lies. Israel went on this bombing campaign to root out Hamas and rescue the hostages. We haven't seen any data about successful that's been on the Hamas front. I know they rescued a couple of hostages, but they also killed some.

However, we know that the campaign has killed and wounded a staggering amount of Palestinians and some foreigners. An unthinkable amount. So many women and children. Their restrictions have also contributed to mass starvation, which anyone would agree is abjectly cruel and unusual. I'm not sure their justification at this point holds, probably because it's not like Hamas wear an H to clearly identify themselves. I wish Israel would rely on actual strategy and use data. Alas, it seems like they really do want to kill every last Palestinian and the US is letting them.

Yes, they really should have just rolled over after the Oct. 7 massacre and capitulated to Hamas - as you would have preferred. Glad they don’t take advice from idiots.

You are an idiot for thinking that there were only to options for Israel to take following 10/7 - either capitulate or proceed on a genocidal march through Gaza. Either Israel is so stupid that they can't think of ways to take down Hamas without slaughtering thousands of babies and bringing on a famine or they are so damn incompetent that they could not do otherwise. Oh sorry, one more option, they want to eliminate as many Palestinians as possible and are using 10/7 as a pretext for doing so.
