Teachers returning with Covid.

Are you comfortable with it? New guidelines say it’s ok with improving symptoms and no fever. Parents know someone in the class has it, but not that it’s a teacher.

I’m ok with it as I am with them returning after flu / rsv etc. they all still have a chance of being contagious 24 hour after fever

It's fine. After they are feeling better is not a very risky time. People are more contagious before they are feeling sick and while they are getting worse. We can't have people isolate before they get sick or there would be no daycare at all.

Ugh yes that's horrible. Basically guaranteed to spread it, including to the toddler's pregnant mom or newborn siblings who are both very high risk

No one should be ok with this.

There's a lot to be concerned with regarding covid that doesn't have to do with acute infection.

If someone in our class is coming back before testing negative, we will keep our kids home.

Teachers no longer get covid leave and have to use up their own leave (assuming they have any) so no teachers I know will stay home for 5+ days with covid. Not willing to not get paid because the kids got them sick.

I think you have to realize that many people are no longer testing and have been returning from illness after recovering for a while now.

I’m confused how people are expected to differentiate between when their symptoms are improving and the time that they’re positive but not yet ill. If you just take a test one off (say, because a child in your class who you were working closely with comes down with COVID) and it’s positive, but you feel fine, according to the CDC you’re either extremely likely to spread COVID or pretty unlikely. How is this helpful guidance?

I’ve also had parents email admin because I took “excessive” leave. (It was 4 days for Covid.) Teachers can’t win.

+1 no one is going to take 5 days unless there is special leave for it.

Plus many people including students are not testing so there's Covid d everywhere anyway.

At this pt it's like flu, RSV etc.
