Crystal Clanton, who is close with the Thomas family, has said she does not remember sending the messages, which emerged in 2017.
Justice Clarence Thomas recently hired a law clerk who was previously accused of sending racist text messages, resurfacing the controversy around her.

Crystal Clanton will begin clerking for the justice in the upcoming term, according to the Antonin Scalia Law School, from which she graduated in 2022.

In late 2017, a New Yorker story reported that Ms. Clanton, who had served for five years as the national field director at Turning Point USA, a conservative student group, had sent the text messages, including the statement “i hate black people,” to another employee.

In the years since, Ms. Clanton has maintained a close relationship with Justice Thomas and his wife, Virginia Thomas. Ms. Thomas once served on the advisory board of Turning Point USA, and subsequently hired Ms. Clanton. The justice has called the allegations against Ms. Clanton unfounded and said that he does not believe her to be racist.

You can attempt to spin it that way, but you'd be wrong. Turning Point USA, which is an organization that advocates conservative politics, had Clanton resign after they saw those emails.

Vanity Fair’s Caleb Ecarma, who reported on Clanton’s hire at the time for Mediaite, also uncovered additional racist remarks Clanton had made to TPUSA staffers, which included one Snapchat photo of a man who appeared to be Arab with the caption, “Just thinking about ways to do another 9/11.”

The source for this is a fired staffer, who is either suspected or confirmed as sending tweets and texts on the accounts of others to get them in trouble.

I think people who say inappropriate things can learn from their mistakes. I also think people can change. The zero tolerance for mistakes in our society isn’t good.

Yes the SCOTUS should absolutely institute a code of ethics. When our society has eroding faith in institutions, they need to step up and be better!

Crystal Clanton lived with Justice Thomas and his wife Ginni for a year & they know her better than anyone making these despicable claims about her. In fact, Justice Thomas wrote a letter to categorically state: “I know Crystal Clanton and I certainly know bigotry. Bigotry is antithetical to her nature and character.” That should mean something.

Justice Thomas knows what a racist is - he survived Democrat racists growing up in segregated Georgia (yes, they were ALL Democrats). He has survived Democrat racists in DC who have attacked him for 40 years because he does not conform to their racist demand that he must think a certain way based on color of his skin.

I will take his word and judgment any day of the week, instead of these Democrat racists. Thomas knows racists all too well – and has never bent to them.

I know Crystal Clanton too. She is not a racist. It’s repugnant for the Left to smear this young woman to malign its true target, Justice Clarence Thomas. Shame on you.

Crystal will be a superb law clerk to our greatest Supreme Court Justice and our greatest living American.

No one is demonizing the Thomases. Calling them out for their hypocrisy and corruption is not demonizing.

I’m not spinning it any way at all. I think Thomas is a deplorable piece of crap; I was mocking the way in which Republicans fail to get their grossest members under control. And here’s Thomas elevating her.
