What stats do you need for UvA out of state ? Difference for EA / RD?
Is 4.0 UW, 10+ APs with 5s or mostly 5s. and 1500+ SAT - is it still a reach ? |
| Yes, OOS it's a reach for all. |
| Likely a reach but solid chance. |
| Know an OOS kid with those stats, including 1550 and strong ECs, who was waitlisted. |
My legacy kid had higher stats and very high rigor—also WL |
Same |
| UVA out of state is a reach for everyone. Period. Your kid has as good a chance as anyone though. All you can do is apply. |
|
Ours got in 3.98/4.82 1520 13APs (including AP language). Varsity athlete...from DCPS
But deferred by a few schools considered easier, so go figure |
Wow! What stats! Congrats! |
What state? If you're in Montana or Alabama, you probably have a better chance with those stats (which are really really good) than if you're from PA or NY. |
The 75th percentile of enrolled students last year had a 1510 or better. I believe the OOS stats are available in SCHEV. The percentage of acceptance for OOS is lower at below 12%. What is weighted gpa? |
| what's class rank? That's important to UVA. |
| NJ nephew got in. 4.0UW, 12 APs and 1510 SAT. Only one in his class I believe. |
| He would be accepted ED, but RD they would probably waitlist him. With those stats he will likely get in somewhere better, and they want to manage yield. |
| Depends on the state. If they get a lot of applicants from your state, it’s harder. Applying from a state that sends them fewer apps is easier. Every OOS kid I know there had the same or lower stats. They came from southern states. |
