If you're a child until "26" in DC, should other things follow?

I'm sure smarter people than I have posed this...

But since in DC, minds and impulses are undeveloped until age 26 and accorded great consideration (see Charles Allen's Youth Reform Act) -

Should we raise the "drinking age" for DC residents to 26?
Raise the voting age?
Should young offenders not be released UNTIL 26?

Why are we according all the privileges to 18 year olds, but none of the responsibilities?

The voting age was dropped to 18 during the Vietnam war because people getting drafted should be able to vote for the politicians creating the need for the draft. No one ever claimed that 18 year olds had fully developed executive function.

Instead of having these useless debates, we need to lock up violent criminals again, even if they're "only" 23 years old.

If anything, the drinking age should be lowered to 18. We aren't going to solve the underage drinking problem by locking up everyone who doesn't follow the rules.

I’m fine with all that. We can start that tomorrow as far as I’m concerned.

At 18 you have graduated high school and are an adult.

Well you’re a child to FAFSA health insurance until the age of 26, so it’s not just DC.

At 18 you can sentence yourself to decades of student loan debt apparently because boomers told you that college was your golden ticket, and you knew nothing about recessions and shifting job markets.

Many haven’t. My kids had spring birthdays so they turned/will turn 18 months before graduation.

And you can’t rent a car or book a nice hotel room.

So liberals and Dems scream you don't have a fully formed brain until 26 and should receive leniency when you do crime because you make poor decisions.

OTOH liberals scream about letting prepubescent 11 year olds have access to sex changing therapies that can have permanent health consequences without the consent of their parents.

You can't have it both ways Democrats. If you're brain isn't fully formed until 26 and you can't make good decisions until 26, then how in the hell does it make bloody sense to allow teenagers to change their sex with medical procedures? Sorry, if teenagers are capable of picking gender affirming care, then that means a 20 year old has the mental capacity to choose or not to choose to do crime. You gotta be consistent with mental capacity now and decision making.

I don't see why. We've had a tiered age system for many adult privileges over the years, I think it works fine.
