Police blocked street & Crime tape at McLean HS this morning

Anyone know why the street leading to the front of McLean HS was blocked with several cops s as nd police tape this morning?
Tried to drop our kids off and had to turnaround because of police cruisers blocking the street. Looked like crime tape went up the length of the street to just about the entrance to the school. Several other police cars were visible in those two blocks. The school sent the below email at 7:34am, which doesn’t shed any light on the situation and was also completely useless as no one was checking email during drop-off. From McLean HS.. 2/15/2024 Dear McLean community, Davidson Road is closed to traffic this morning. Please use an alternate route into the school. We are expecting delays and will notify teachers that students may be late. Thank you, McLean High School |

| You’ll know when the information is ready for public consumption. Sorry the crime didn’t happen at a convenient time for you. But if they hadn’t sent any email at all, I bet you would be here complaining too. |

So something happened near the school - could have been a crime or could have been a pothole - and they were telling people to use other roads to get to school (but not closing the school).
Title of the thread is click bait. |

Hey PP! Maybe we are concerned parents that a child was hit by a car on their way to school this morning! Or that another violent act or accident happened to students this morning!! |

Local news, wtop, Twitter, alerts from Fairfax County police, etc. (where are people gonna go to find out what kind of information) do not suggest that anything of that nature has happened. |

Whatever happened the school and Fairfax PD need to update or clarify why the streets were closed and the crime tape was up.
Dropping children off at the entrance to a police barricade with zero explanation is not a great way to start the day. |

I saw it as well. There is police activity all over the road. I laughed out loud at your idea 1. A pothole would be fixed here and 2. They would send more than one person |

Exactly. The government will let you know if you need to know anything. Otherwise, mind your own businesses. How dare you question what's happening on a public street and demand to know what's going on? The audacity of some people.

| Fortunately the school has entrances off three roads, and whatever happened off Davidson didn’t prevent kids from getting to school this morning using the Westmoreland and Sea Cliff entrances. Some schools only have one way in and one way out. |

Schools have the bad habit of hiding as much information as they can, which infuriates parents who want to keep their kids safe. It happens in MCPS, and other districts as well. A little more detail would not have violated any police policies or privacy laws, but clearly the event was not mundane. |

No, that little wooden walkway from Davidson towards the school? If you were driving up Davidson towards the main entrance to the school, it is on your left just before you turn into the parking lot. That is where the activity is and I would be shocked, isn’t related to somebody dying.
