if you have an HHI of 800k-1.2m, what kind of car do you drive?

Mid 40s dh here, with a 10 year old Rav4. Maybe it's just a state of mind, but I've never felt comfortable buying a luxury vehicle. It's about time to trade-in for a new one. On one hand I'd like something nice, but on the other hand I do now like being showy. Also paying $60k+ for a vehicle seems like a lot.

If you're in this income range, what kind of car do you drive?

7 year old Honda CRV

Buy what you want. Some people want to spend their money on cars, others buy stamps, or build elaborate gardens . You don’t have enough money to buy everything, so just prioritize based on what you want to do. No one can tell you the right answer and what other people do shouldn’t actually influence what you do.

Almost 10 year old Ford Explorer. I’m not a car person though, and my car is the kid/dog transport vehicle. It would make zero sense to get something fancy and then worry about dog hair. I’m good as long as it gets me from Point A to Point B.

We have a Tesla S and Tesla Y, paid cash for both with year end bonus $

Just get whatever car you want that’s financially responsible including all the factors beyond your HHI. It’s not a big deal.

What difference does it make if you count it as bonus money? Once it goes in your account it’s all just money, right?

HHI 1.5m

My DH drives a 6 y.o. Porsche Macan.

Recently a silly reel came up on my Instagram. A guy was explaining why it is normal that women are "gold diggers ". Speaking to the males, he says, among others, that wives of wealthy men are expected to live according to their husbands' high standards, as a way of furthering the latter's prestige: " So you drive a cool Porsche? You wouldn't want your wife to drive a Toyota Corolla!"

To which I would reply: "Of course I wouldn't drive a Toyota Corolla. I drive a Toyota Camry!"

13 year-old Toyota Camry XLE. I don't want to worry about any small scratch on a luxury car. No stress is way more important to me than a high-end car. As long as it has leather seats, a Toyota will work just fine.

You make seven figures and can’t figure out what type of car people in your income bracket make? Here’s a tip: on your way in and out of the office, try to pay attention to what cars you see in the parking lot.

Or how about just buying whatever car you like instead of being unable to make basic decisions without debasing yourself for social approval?

We have a $2m HHI but our cars are the same as when we had a 800kHHI.

I drive a Tesla Y and DH drives a Lexus SUV. We used to have a Ranger Rover and Volvo XC90 before these when our HHI was 1.5m.

2018 Subaru Forrester. I'm not a car person so all I care about is reliability and being able to fit my son's hockey gear. I'll give it to him when he goes off to college next year, and will probably replace it with a new Subaru.

Car #1 - used toyota highlaner - 4 years old - paid cash
Car #2 - leasing a jeep grand cherokee (only leasing because we urgently needed a second car and weren't ready to purchase b/c we didn't know what we wanted - our needs are changing - will likely get a suburban when lease is up b/c we have a big family

Neither of us can fathom driving a flashy car.
