Let me start off by clarifying: DD is a great kid! She gets mostly excellent grades; few discipline issues in school, plays a sport, intends to go to college some day.
But she has been fixated for the last few weeks on getting a tattoo. She’s researched it, and knows what she wants and where (butterfly, on her ankle). She checked around and has saved up more than enough of her allowance to pay for it. And it wouldn’t be so noticeable to be a possible employment issue down the road; easily covered up. But I’m just not sure. Bad idea? Good? Why or why not. TIA ! |
Bad idea. Because she’s TWELVE. |
Butterfly on the ankle? Get her a full sleeve and she'll be the most badass 6th grader in her school |
You can't be serious. |
Butterfly on the face is a better idea. You're only 12 once. Make the most of it. |
this doesn't sound all that great, honestly. no tattoo, obv. |
She's young for this.
"discipline issues in school" What does that even mean? |
I have tattoos, and love my tattoos. But 12 is too young to decide to get art on your body for life. She needs to wait until she is 18 or so. |
My DD is serious. She keeps bring it up. |
It's a hard pass at 12. Tell her that if she still wants it her senior year of high school, it can be a graduation gift. I got my first one (with my mom) on my 18th birthday. It's small and means a lot to me and I and have no regrets. |
She’s twelve. Be a parent. |
I think 12 is way too young for tattoos. I wouldn't allow it. |
Obviously I would go with her. Consent of parent makes it ok; she checked. |
I have a no tattoos until you are financially independent rule.
So not that you saved your own money for it but that I don’t pay any bills for you except health care. |
