I agree that it's most likely denial. I had a "friend" that I had to cut ties with because her son, from the age of about 15 (when we met) always had a younger "friend", always a boy, that he would be obsessed with. When I decided to stop being friends with her, he was 22 and had a 16 year old boy living in his bedroom with him, and the mother had no problem with it. They were "just friends" after all.

Apparently the father stepped up and put an end to it and made the 16 year old go back home. They were ultra religious and in the beginning they kidded themselves that their home was superior to his because the boy's mother was mean and they were religious, God fearing people that were tasked with helping the ignorant masses lol. It was a mess. The mother never saw that there was a problem at all. She was in complete denial all the years I knew about this stuff, and he even tried to latch onto my son, who is about 7 years younger than he is, and I cut that off at the pass.


As for Josh, he needs to just live out his days behind bars. I feel badly for his kids.

It's almost like the name was familiar to her unconsciously, but separated from the emotional and psychological meanings of the name as she experienced it in reality. It feels like an example of a dissociative process to me. Or straight up repression. It's unconscious to her but she was, due to her trauma, drawn to the name (but it also stirred her in some way and something was uncomfortable about it so she altered the spelling). This is how layers of the mind can work. And how despite how much she wants to consciously forget or lush away these horrors, unless she works through them, she is bound to repeat them. She can't get away from it. This is all deeply sad and disturbing.
