I kinda feel like Netanyahu saw his opportunity and took it. He egged Trump on to do this, knowing any slightly more intelligent president wouldn’t dare do something so stupid. He probably assured Trump that this would be another Venezuela, just take out the Big Bad and head home, easy peasy, mission accomplished.
With the declining support for fighting Israel's wars, Netanyahu knew it was his last and only chance to finally fulfill his "Clean Break" policy of having the US topple 7 countries. |

You losers said the same thing about the Taliban, the same thing about Saddam, you probably would have said the same thing about Vietnam. These countries are complex societies and taking out leadership creates a power vacuum. It’s clear that the US has never had the sophistication to somehow create stability after taking out the leadership of another country.
