Ton of sit down interviews this week for Harris

Let’s knock out the easy part: she should have been 100% prepared for this question, but she was not and that is her fault.

Let’s tackle the deeper part. Her substantive answer was awful. “I know [small business owners] need the overhead money [word salad] that benefits their growth.”

A KH supporter could listen to this and say: “look, she’s just terrible at on the spot interviews and gotcha questions.” And I say fair enough. Reasonable minds can disagree.

But a reasonable observer could also listen to that and conclude she is incompetent, incurious and just unsuited for the job. Her answer doesn’t even make sense. Tax cuts for small business owners overhead to grow?!?!?!?!?! She’s like a high school student called on by the teacher using buzz words hoping it is enough to get through the situation. The high schooler is basically treating the teacher like the teacher is stupid and we’ll all politely go along with the fiction so that the student is not embarrassed.

There are areas beyond my own expertise where if I were attempting to sound smart I would come off like an idiot. The answer is either to get smart or don’t sound off. And I am not running for president. Ignoring the Trump issue for a second, anybody who does understand small business (or any business) leaves that conversation thinking to themselves she’s is unqualified. To be fair, other politicians can completely sound out of their league or betray their lack of understanding (Liz Warren a few years ago talking about stock splits/buybacks in front of corporate executives stands out in my mind), but there is a difference between being wrong (Warren) and being unprepared but thinking the rest of us are stupid enough to buy your BS (KH).

And that’s before we even get to the point that she’s basically conceding the Republican ground on the essence of the question. She just admitted that taxes impact business growth (at least at the small business level).

Once again, evaluating her in a vacuum and not relative to Trump, I am starting to struggle to understand how this individual got within a heartbeat of the Presidency and may yet ascend to the office. I understand that she’s the nominee due to a unique set of circumstances, but I also understand why she isn’t generating enthusiasm.

Yes, Trump is a fascist, Vance is weird, but Harris is a poser and who knows what TW really is beyond goofy.

How is it that these are our best options?

We've all had that boss who got promoted far, far beyond their capability because of optics. This is the peak of that phenomenon. I'm sure she was a fine prosecutor and that's probably where she should have stayed.

Yup.

Even so, this is like 8 voters? I guess that's helpful but in reality, it's not at all meaningful, as much as I would like to think so as a Harris supporter (who voted for her today).

Funny how up thread, the MAGAs were spinning the opposite, no?

Wait, this guy expects the sitting vice President to come to him? And he wants to dictate how much time he gives her?

Dude, you are a podcaster.

Absolutely.

I liked KH in the beginning. But hearing her speak, I have come to realise that she has no understanding whatsoever how the levers of economy work, or how geopolitics should be played.

Trump can tie things together and has a much broader and better understanding of history, economy and geopolitics. He has a pulse on the trend.

And yes, if the sitting VP wants to advance, she has to make the effort. Joe Rogan is not running for anything.

You are absurd.

Given the way that the corporate media usually pre loads these kinds of panels with Republican and Republican leaning voters (and they all call themselves “independent” or “undecided”) in an attempt to never make it look like a Democrat is winning votes, yes, I’d say this is probably meaningful.

The focus groups are showing swing voters breaking for Harris.
They liked this interview and are impressed by her.
Lots of people have had that one boss that only got where he is because daddy started the company. They see Trump for the Nepo baby his is.😉

Probably one of the funniest things I have read here in a while. Trump has no understanding of anything, other than how to manipulate the vulnerable, and line his pockets.

I just couldn’t have more disdain for you. It’s not possible.

It’s the lying you all do that stuns me.

He was the gross-out guy with a struggle hairline on Fear Factor.

He is NOTHING. He is popular with deranged guys. He’s not a thinker. His primary issue is trans athletes. Jesus Christ on a palomino.

Tariffs are beautiful!

Also, the people who claim Harris spews word salad are OK with "has a pulse on the trend"?

Trump's proposed 200% tariffs will hurt a lot of American businesses and will drive inflation through the roof. There are numerous economic studies that show this. Trump has zero understanding of economics and to this day still doesn't actually understand who PAYS the tariffs. And I'll take Harris any day over incoherent clearly senile ramblings about sharks and windmill cancer and Arnold Palmer's penis.
