2023 Boys Private School Results /Game Schedules/ Commentary

SJC runs this town. Talk to me when a DMV team beats them. It’s been several years since that happened.

You are missing the point. They cheat by waiving tuition to get some of the better players and their coaching is average.

It never ends with the SJC bashing by the IAC people on here. In my day at SJC, the only IAC team that mattered was Landon. They were the best in the area. I dont recall any team in what was then the Metro conference (WCAC) playing Landon. We would however (as would GZ and GC and DeMatha) regularly beat Prep/Episcopal and St. Albans and I dont recall Bullis even having a team, same with SSSA. Bullis was known for soccer and tennis and I will just leave it at that. In 2004 somebody told my Bullis was good I had to ask them if it was the Bullis school in Potomac. So for Bullis to trash SJC for rising in the lacrosse ranks makes me laugh. Same thing with Prep. You all were terrible years ago. You got better. SJC got better. You will have to live with it.

SJC crashed their party, and took their women. IAC schmoes sitting at the Congressional Country Club bar wondering what happened. And where their wives are.

You think Duenkel’s parents needed the money? You don’t know Duenkel’s parents then.

What’s funny is these IAC folks have no idea how many parents have money at St.John’s and said no thanks to any financial help. The difference is not money it’s Coach Speaks and the support they provide for the student athlete. Coach Speaks goes to watch these kids play during the summer and builds a relationship with their families. All say it again. Your coach is being out worked when it comes to recruiting. If you don’t know - you don’t know.

Agreed. And they want to be part of a winning program. SJC hasn’t lost to a DMV team in 2 years.

There is a broken record on this thread. 🙄

God bless I hope Prep hires Speaks this off-season and throws all of these keyboard warriors in the mixer!

On both sides. I have to lean to the St. John’s side. Wins and losses the last few years prove the have the better program right now. Maybe Gonzaga can change the narrative Friday night.

Didn’t they already try that. And failed? Why would it happen this year when Prep is having an amazing season?

As a grown-ass adult, I'd hope my coach has better things to do than go watch a MS club lacrosse game in the summer or the fall.

No way Prep or any other school that is strong in lax in this area would take Speaks at this point (if Speaks was even looking to move). He has done a great job with SJC, but his name and the SJC brand has become a lightning rod for controversy. His next position won’t be in the DMV unless it’s a mega low tier program.

Disagree...

Why is there such controversy... sure the guys recruits hard but the SJC administration is telling him to recruit hard. He is doing what he has been told by the administration. Win games and do whatever is necessary to attract/recruit kids to military road.
