I kind of hope Biden does this, because it would be hilarious to see how many Democratic members of Congress would lose their jobs over it come November.

It would be exactly the type of shoot themselves in the foot action we've come to expect from the Biden administration.

I think people forget (or don't about) how much chaos was created by gas rationing in the seventies and it's "moral equivalence to war."

We obviously survived the gas rationing of the 70’s just fine, didn’t we? There’s no reason it wouldn’t work again.

As president, Jimmy Carter did not survive it.

Rationing makes people think of failed and semi-failed states, like Venezuela. I doubt that’s something Biden and the Dems want to be associated with right before the mid-terms.

If people understand that the purpose of rationing is to punish the oil companies and gas station operators who are gouging prices right now, they’ll be all for it. But the optics of it have to be communicated effectively. People need to understand the point of the rationing is to stabilize prices and limit profiteering by big oil. When they see oil companies as the enemy, they will applaud the administration for going after them.

You’re either delusional or engaged in parody of an economically clueless liberal.

The strategy of blaming greedy oil companies didn't work in the seventies, but according to PP we now have a more educated electorate that it will work for.

WELCOME TO THE THIRD WORLD – THANK YOU JOE BIDEN & FELLOW DEMOCRATS

Holy cow. I think the only thing that sounds really bad on your list is the ominous nuclear conflict. The rest of it sounds kind of okay. I have not had any problems getting food. Where do you live?

DP.
You must not have an infant.
And, if you think the list above sounds "kind of okay," you must be a DC liberal.

(Jeff Foxworthy should start a "You might be a DC liberal" routine.)

I have a lot more good will toward Oil companies that power the world doing hard work than lazy overpaid government grifters staring at their computer screens… never getting a pay cut … getting more time off every year and running a 30 trillion dollar red ink sloppy enterprise. How do we punish them?

I hope you're being sarcastic. Companies are out to make a profit, and energy companies don't care about polluting your local environment, holding you hostage with one choice of energy, one price, etc. They do not work in YOUR interest, they do not protect YOU, and if you sue, their lawyers will make sure to crush you.

The government does help you, in so many ways. I don't understand people who criticize governments. Sure, all institutions in the world are wasteful, because it's really hard to curb spending when an organization reaches a certain size (there's a lot of waste in large businesses as well, BTW), but the governments try, at least, to serve the people. Free public education, community college, lowering the cost of healthcare (we need to do a LOT more work in this area), emergency services, roads and bridges, utilities, trash and recycling, parks, libraries, support for the arts, local activities for children, tax breaks for certain populations, social security, services to the needy and elderly, federal oversight (even if flawed) of pollution in water, air and soil, land and wildlife management, defense, trade, international negotiations and regulations to protect the interests of the USA... the list is interminable and that's why it costs so much. Don't pretend that you don't benefit from multiple local, state and federal government services.

I will add one more thing. My husband works at the NIH, where thousands of scientists from all over the world develop treatments for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, dementia, etc. These are government employees, saving your life and that of your loved ones. Whenever someone makes a snide remark about lazy government workers, I think of all these PhDs and MDs toiling away for low pay (relative to their years of study) to better understand human diseases and save lives.

Your life. Your ignorant, ungrateful, completely clueless little self.

Over paid.

The government needs to cut pay until it breaks even. 1 trillion of red ink every year is sloppy and lazy

This is part of the plan. He *wants* high prices.

President Biden said that the country is going through an "incredible transition" away from fossil fuels via the high gas prices being experienced nationwide.

Biden made the statement on gas prices during a joint press conference with Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Monday.

"Here’s the situation. And when it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over," Biden said, seeming to justify or praise those sky-high prices Americans face at the pump.

Higher gas prices are literally inevitable. A finite resource that is in high demand from a growing population of billions of humans can only ever lead to steadily increasing prices. Transitioning away from oil is an obvious necessity. Why can’t you see that?

Ask the people in Flint about the deep concern of government for health.

The first thing Biden did was put the Keystone pipeline off the table. He created this deliberately.

That pipeline wouldn’t even be operational by now. It’s absence has not affected prices at the pump.

I do not believe you have even the most basic understanding of economics or commodities.

Biden’s decision to cancel the KeystoneXL permits immediately spiked gasoline prices higher, and they have only increased from there.

I think we need to frame this discussion in the context of equity and racial impact.

What communities suffer the most from climate change and pollution?

What communities are most impacted by price increases and least well suited to make the transition to electric?

I would like to see much larger, targeted subsidies to help people of color buy EVs.

Wow. When the unabashed liars at Fox News have to couch their assertion with a "seems to," you know they're really grasping at straws.
