Transfers to W-L possible

Surprised nobody discussing this yet. APS announced transfers available in to WL for 24-25 school year with priority for Wakefield students. Students can finish out high school and Wakefield students get transportation.

On the middle school side it’s interesting that TJ went from accepting transfers to getting priority to transfer out within a couple years

Also interesting that they aren’t offering transfers out of Gunston considering the whole brouhaha over redrawing middle school boundaries

Why is it surprising nobody is talking about it?

I hope folks do their due diligence before transferring to W-L...

This new transfer policy should open up spots for IB, since all Wakefield zoned families can just transfer to W-L for all four (or less) years with guaranteed transportation. Or that least that’s how it appears.

Good thing APS isn’t using IB specifically to reduce crowding at Wakefield. Option programs should not be used to solve capacity problems.

There is a capacity limit. It's not an unlimited number of transfers.

Why aren’t they offering transportation to Yorktown transferees. They are already picking the IB transfers from that area . How many kids could we be talking about? So weird.

Prioritized MS transfers this year are students zoned for TJ and Swanson. Gunston must be behind those in crowding.

Gunston enrollment went down after finding almost 100 non-residents.

That is shocking. I hope they were charged tuition even if it’s after the fact.
