Creami - What am I doing wrong?

It all sucks, like a snow cone, not creamy, not blended. I have used full fat milk. I don't get it.

Are you making it just with milk and flavorings? We make ours with immersion-blended cottage cheese, a little jello pudding mix, and whatever we want it to taste like (fruit, peanut butter, chocolate, maybe protein powder). Even still, when it's first mixed it's like a kind of low-budget Dippin' Dots. I always have to add some milk or half and half and "re-spin" to get it creamy, but then it's fantastic.

I have done milk, sugar and flavor, milk and protein powder, added things in like oreos, m&ms...It is never great. I guess it needs cream.

I think it's actually the little bit of jello pudding powder that makes it smoother/creamier. But very little - maybe 1/2-3/4 teaspoon.

Thank you, I will try that tip because I am so bummed so far.

I feel the same way! I really hate it!

I’m going to try the gelato recipe to see if I can make that work, but so far our sorbet has been a disaster and the chocolate ice cream was fine, but I really didn’t like the idea that it was basically frozen cream cheese.

I don't have a creami (Cuisinart) but I would think that the basics are the same. Ice cream absolutely needs cream. It's literally in the name.

1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream
1 tbsp vanilla extract

Try it.

Are people still using their Creami machines? I saw Costco is selling them and really want one…but I fear it will be another appliance that sits in my basement unused.

What a terrible product name. lol

Are you letting it thaw a little on the counter first? My freezer is too cold and I leave it out or the texture is off/ requires respinning.

I saw one new in box at a thrift store for $10 or $15 so I googled it and most of the reviews were like your experience, op.

It took me a while, but I finally got it right by

1. Use a teaspoon or so of either jello mix or guar gum
2. thaw slightly by running the container under hot water for about 30 seconds
3. Don't be afraid to re-spin, even twice

eh, certainly it may be more rich or decadent with cream....but it isn't needed. I make mine with either a protein shake or reduced fat milk and it is fine. The jello mix or guar gum makes up the consistency.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure yours is great. But if somebody is looking for a lower calorie/fat or higher protein, it is delicious with cream alternatives.

I had never heard of it until this thread. Thanks for mentioning Costco, maybe I'll check it out. But I already haven't used the expensive blender I bought 6 months ago...
