Why do people hate Trump?

Anonymous
I immigrated 30 years back and now a citizen. I am not politically savvy or active but like most immigrants always voted Democrat because they were more supportive of immigrants. But with the open border I am now starting to question the Democrat party. Why on earth are they allowing mass illegal migration through open borders which is a major major security threat to the country. As I am thinking to vote for Republicans, I see so much hate for Trump. When Trump was President, it was same like the earlier 20 years for me except there were no wars. So what is wrong with Trump that is not the case with Democrat nominees? If it is his moral character then there are Democrat Presidents who have also been immoral. So I am ruling that out. Is it because he talks brash? That’s the only thing I can think of. Please explain and keep it simple. Why you hate Trump?

He has no guiding principles other than his own personal ego. That him a dangerous and unpredictable leader that could get people killed.

He’s a rapist.

He says the quiet stuff out loud. Unfortunately he does it to often and people grow tired of it. Just a little more self control and the hate would dissipate.

I don't use the term hate, but I honestly cannot think of a single virtuous quality. I don't trust him, as he has proven himself to be untrustworthy repeatedly. I don't think he is competent and has no skills for this particular job. He is a rapist. He has no respect for anyone or for our country and its laws. He is a narcissist and that is a terrible quality for a leader.

Also, I understand that what you view as all hunky dory during his presidency is false, many of the serious issues we face right know were caused by the prior administration in ways many likely will never understand only because they don't seem to want to. Similarly, it is also false that is all is going terrible now because of something this administration did or didn't do. Even your impression of border stats are wrong.

This.

First of all, it's the "Democratic Party" not the "Democrat Party." Nobody calls the GOP the "Republic Party."

I dislike Trump because he's a criminal - a tax cheat and a rapist among other things. He lies all the time. He judges people not on their talent or their character, but on whether or not they say nice things about him.

But more than anything else, after he lost an election rather than concede he summoned his angry followers: "Big protest in D.C. on January 6. Be there, will be wild!" Without that tweet the January 6th insurrection would not have happened. Certainly presidents of both parties have had moral failings, but nothing any other president (even Nixon) has done comes close to that.

He has said out loud that he wants to be a dictator. The US is a democracy. There is no room for "leaders" who put themselves above the country, and that is all Trump has ever done.

Also, check your history, OP. There was a war going on during Trump's presidency. Biden ended it.

Don’t forgot he mishandled and stole highly classified documents.
Our country has lost untold numbers of human assets and it can all be traced back to the Trump White House. Our ability to gather intelligence and information has been greatly diminished, and will remain so for possibly a generation.
Do you feel safer knowing he can’t keep our nuclear secrets under wraps?
Think about it. They “lost” our most secret and dangerous intel. No one knows what happened to it. No one knows who saw it, but we know it’s out there because our people started getting killed off and imprisoned all around the globe. Who will ever work for us again? How will CIA ever get assets again?
… and now the world is destabilizing… after all that info got out.
And you want to put him BACK IN?
You’ve been a citizen for 30 years, and that’s great. Now it’s time to be a patriot.

Absolutely not. His actions are the problem. He and the pathetic Republican party are a danger to democracy.

Trump is a grifter who says he donates to charities and doesn’t
He lies perpetually
He cozies up to Russia and loves Authoritarians
He doesn’t pay taxes
He ordered voting authorities in GA to “find votes”
and
And, he incites traitors
What he says out loud has zero to do with why sane people who love democracy despise him

Because he’s a nasty narcissistic rapist who cares only about his ego, has an authoritarian soul, thinks he is above the law, incited a riot to try to steal an election, doesn’t read and has the vocabulary and intellect of a 10 year old, has a terrible track record of hiring people who then say what a horrible human being he is, is a rabid liar incapable of telling the truth or any introspection, ran multiple businesses to the ground, mocked a disabled man, insulted dead and wounded veterans, and is the most immature person ever to sit in the Oval Office.

Just stop. Downplaying the many ways he is unfit to serve as president and boiling them all down to "mean tweets" isn't cutting it any more. It's so much more than just "saying the quiet stuff out loud" and you know it.

Our country is guided by the Constitution and the rule of law. Trump does not believe in following the Constitution and has tried to undermine the rule of law has entire career. He doesn’t understand the basic principles of how government works and that he is the sole decider. He tried to overturn the election and has sowed doubt in our entire political process. I could go on.

He does what he says. His policies are aggressively moderate.

Washington and the swamp types hate that

1/3 of the country loves him like family

Nobody loves Joe . Not even his own family

I honestly believe many, perhaps even most, agreed with his policies, but find the man himself divisive, unpredictable, touchy, and not the face of the country that we want to present to the rest of the world. OTH, I never understood the irrational antipathy so many people have and unwillingness to even give the guy the benefit of the doubt, as Hilary initially said she was willing to do.
