To the local ANCs and those with connections to get police & city services changes -- PLEASE do something about the people repeatedly driving the wrong way down M street (IE: nearly the length of a block) to turn left/north on 33rd. These parents that think it's okay to drive the wrong way just because they are in a hurry to do school drop off - it's ridiculous. Today 7 cars drove nearly the length of an entire block, trying to cut around cars, and there were 2 near crashes. With children in the car! This is a major safety issue and it's not difficult to solve--- We need to install flexible/removable barriers.

| Why should parents have to obey DC traffic laws when they aren't enforced against anyone else? |
What school is this? |
I mean... for real. I see this all over the city all day long. Why should anyone obey any traffic laws? The city does not care. |
You only obey traffic laws while driving because you're afraid of getting caught by the police, and other than that, it's anything goes? Seriously? |
There are literally no rules in the city at this point. Take it up with the Council and the mayor if you don't like it. |
|
OP, did you actually send this to your ANC reps so they could read it?
Second, if it’s that concerning call MPD. You can call the non emergency number if you want. They create a log of all the incidents and when they see patterns they reassign officers. If you call every time you see it, they’ll eventually send an officer. |
You don't set any rules for yourself? You don't even try to do basic stuff like avoiding crashes by not driving the wrong way on a one-way street? |
It’s parents coming from Virginia to drop their kids off at the private Catholic schools - visitation, Saint Ann’s, plus work is trying to get to their jobs at Georgetown University & the hospital |
Yes. 100%. Dead serious. If there is zero chance of getting a ticket you can bet your a$$ I'm picking and choosing what traffic laws I'm following. |
|
DC enforce traffic laws? LMAO.
Oh and myob, OP. |
|
DC does enforce traffic laws, but only through cameras: speed cameras, red light cameras, stop sign cameras, and a new one is cameras on buses to catch people in bus lanes.
These are just taxes on the rich since poor people don't pay the tickets and there is no enforcement for unpaid tickets. |
They're coming from VA and driving the wrong way on M street to drop their kids off at a school that isn't on M street and closed 10 years ago? |
| OP, stop clogging up the intersection so more people can make the turn. |
