Looking for ECNL/GA Team 2011 Girl (Moving there this summer)

Anonymous
Hi we are moving to Northern Virginia this summer and still looking for a place but my daughter is currently a player on an ECNL team as a defender, she mostly play full back or outside back. I know tryouts will be done before we move there but wondering if there's any clubs people are recommending and maybe we could reach out to the club beforehand for summer tryout.

Appreciate any info.

Arlington and VDA are the best but Arlington is better. Contact the directors.

Any idea what area in NOVA? Its geographically large and the traffic can be a nightmare. Also when school ends for her may be a factor too.

This, depends on exactly where in NoVa you'll be.

OP here. Work will be in DC so we are looking at the area that would allow about 30 mins drive to DC (is that possible?)

We are looking at Arlington (on expensive end, Alexandria, Falls Church and maybe not too far out of Fairfax).

Appreciate any tips if any of the team in the area looking for defender.

You can't go wrong with the Fairfax Brave. Fantastic for player development, a winning culture, college recruiting, and coaching. Start there.

VA Revolution is starting a high level soccer school with the leading academic provider for the MLS. Middle school and high school student-athletes, boys and girls. DC United is also part of this program. Rumor has it that VA Rev is also going GA.

All of these sales pitches lol.

Once you actually determine where you're going to live, determine which clubs are within the amount of travel you're willing to do that many times a week. Traffic in this area can be a nightmare. Then reach out to clubs to attend training sessions and find your fit.

Union, Arlington, NVA, VDA, Brave are your options

Fairfax Brave, Arlington, and McLean/Union are all feasible ECNL clubs within driving distance from Alexandria and Falls Church, and all have a good group of 2011 girls. Arlington’s 2011 roster hasn’t changed much for the past three years or more and might be hard to break in, but Union and Brave this year (U13) are both blended teams from multiple clubs.
I would reach out early to coaches (maybe even with some highlights?) since ECNL tryouts open March 1st, and I would think most rosters would be pretty set by summer.

I would recommend checking roster numbers for each team. Brave has 17 I believe. Union has 19 (all Union teams tend to have high roster numbers and older teams U15 and up go over 20). Arlington sticks to no more than 18. For those with lower numbers, it’s easier for a strong player to get a spot, even if it’s after the outs.

Good point. How does one figure out how many kids on the roster?

Avoid NVA at all costs.

Just a couple questions; what club is she coming from and was she a starter?
