Dh Directed us to shovel deck - update

My 16 YO DD and I played a switcheroo on Dh today.

We shoveled the driveway and sidewalk while he was at work.

So now we will see how important it is to shovel off snow from the unused, perfectly sound, strong deck.

I don't get it. What does the importance of the deck being shoveled have to do with the sidewalk and driveway being done first?

Snow and ice are bad for decks, and decks have become very expensive to replace.

If I remember correctly, in the last installment maybe DH had shoveled the driveway and sidewalk and had tasked DW and DD with shoveling the deck. This assignment caused DW great anguish because she didn't think it was necessary. So, now she's turning the tables, seeing if - once the necessary driveway and sidewalk tasks are taken care of - DH changes his tune on whether the deck has to be shoveled at all.

I don't understand.
You and your 16 yo child were home and capable of shoveling. You should have known and done that before DH asked.

And yes a deck needs to be cleared of ice and snow unless you enjoy damage from a collapse and the related expenses

I’m guessing your dh was worried about the snow load on a second story deck which can be a big deal especially if we get any wet snow. Not all decks are designed for that loading do you understand?

Shoveling a deck would take like, two seconds compared to doing the whole driveway and the sidewalk. I don’t know that this makes the point you think this makes?
