| Something from DCCAPS is in our USPS informed Delivery today. We didn't apply for choice, so heads up! Post results if you'd like! |
| We got an email last night from the director of Eastern that we were offered a spot. Nothing in the mail or on Parentvue yet, and no word either way from TPMS yet. |
Was it a group email? So if you weren't part of the email, you didn't get a spot at Eastern? |
|
Literally just got an email from TPMS welcoming my rising 5th grader. I guess I don't have to wait for the mail!
|
It seemed to be, though not sure. It was addressed to "Future Eagles" but the names of who it was sent to were obviously not visibile -- must have been in BCC. |
As the parent of a former Eagle, a strong recommendation for that program. Just incredibly strong all around and a positive experience for my child. |
Same. My kid isn't going to want to go though. |
I think my kid is going to want to go, but the logistics are going to be tough so I don't know if it is a good idea. |
Are you zoned for eastern? |
No |
| Got TPMS email for information session. Nothing from Eastern. |
| Congrats everyone! I’ve had two kids at the TPMS magnet and it’s fantastic! You can’t go wrong accepting the place and I’ve heard eastern is great too. |
| Is the grading as tough at Takoma as it is at Eastern? Do a lot of kids end up with B's on their report card? |
Mine haven’t. All As. If the kids are studious it’s not tough and there isn’t a lot of homework. |
The conventional wisdom is that Eastern grades are harder, and that 6th grade in particular is much more rigorous at Eastern. Both are incredible programs, but Eastern has a lot of homework and a lot of projects that require kids to do specific tasks in order, spread out over a long time period. For a kid who is not well-organized or whose parents are not watching closely, the Eastern projects can easily feel overwhelming. |
