Your kid may have been entered in the pool but you never got any notifications. I emailed DCCAPS@mcpsmd.org, mentioning my kids student id, school name and asked if my kid was in the criteria based pool and got a response the very next morning saying my kid was waitlisted for both programs upcounty. I attached the last MAP results and first marking period report I saw on studentvue. They seem to be quick in responding. Our school is 30% FARMS.

Again, settle down. Notifications only just went out. They haven’t arrived to everyone yet. Wait.

Why do you keep repeating this? If PP wanted to know if her kid is in the pool, she can call or email them if she wants to know soon.

I wasn’t the person who said it initially but PP was freaking out when she didn’t receive an item in the mail the very first day that anyone received which is pretty nuts. No you don’t need to appeal, email the principal, complain or anything else at that point. And she keeps posting about it.

There are two of us posting about it. I was the anxious one and I now know where my kid stands. Nothing wrong in emailing dccaps if people want to know the results sooner. I probably shouldn't have emailed the principal though but I am glad I emailed dccaps.

Except for the people who need to respond to these emails from parents who could just practice patience and wait a couple of days.

You really are crazy. That's their job which they get paid for.

In pool/waitlist for Takoma.

Not in pool/waitlist for Eastern.

Girl of color with an IEP. Takes compacted 5/6 math and ELC curriculum in a downcounty FOCUS school.

Fall MAP M 245 (99th percentile)

Fall MAP R 238 (98th percentile)

Straight A's throughout her ES career, but got an 89 (B) for first quarter Reading, this year only. I assume this is why she wasn't in the Eastern pool. NBD

I'm a little bit confused. Can you be waitlisted if you are not in the pool?

Correct me if I am wrong

- kid in pool
Round 1 results - either accepted/wait listed

Wait list means they will be in next round pool since they are not accepted.

Round 2 results - accepted/wait listed.

Round 3/ Final round results - accepted/rejected

Is this how it works?

I don’t think there is anything wrong with someone emailing now, but it is hardly crazy for someone to say it’d be better to wait a bit.

The pool and the waitlist is the same. There is no round 2 or 3. There is an initial offering of spots (just happened) and accuser that openings are filled as they occur with additional draws from the pool.

There isn't a round 2 or 3 for external purposes. However, they batch the additional draws, at least initially, so that they better can manage that process instead of doing a draw & communicating every moment that someone might decline an offer. Those might be considered "rounds".

+1 I think folks need to wait for the mail to arrive, and that the central office employee time can probably be better used dealing with appeals than dealing with people who just don't want to wait for the mail carrier to get to their place.

It's better for the entire system, and potentially even for those individual people, if we practice a little bit of patience. Look at it this way, if we encourage people to email just because their mail isn't here yet, some of those people will have actual questions once their mail does arrive and will be unable to get through to DCCAPS.

Maybe if they simply posted things to ParentVUE as soon as information was available, it would keep folks from trying to get the information in ways that take up MCPS admin time that could be better used on other tasks? They're going to post it there anyway, right?

Waiting in 3rd for CES lottery question cost us precious appeal time for an error on MCPS side. This caused us to not be able to join the lottery till August and thus rendering my DCs chance of getting a spot completely worthless. Better to check asap IMO.

No one is suggesting waiting until the appeal framing is passed! Just suggesting wait more than one day for the notification to arrive in the mail! I’d give it 3-4 days then call, though it should be on ParentVue by then.

DCC choice results were received by mail on Jan 11 and still aren’t posted on ParentVue.

The criteria based results are now on Parentvue (uploaded today). But not the choice based.
