Has been to: Canada Germany England Colombia Will be going to Ireland and Northern Ireland this spring break |
Probably 10. Canada is always an easy one. Iceland is also a great one because there is a discount airline (Play) that flies direct out of BWI. Lots of fun outdoors stuff and it stays light out like 20 hours during the summer. Honestly, it never really gets dark June - August...gets kind of twilighty but no darker. |

It's not always about quantity. Are they interested in something specific? History? Walking through jungles? Swim in different waters?
Mine are still little. But i grew up with limited $ as an immigrant. My parents could afford an international trip every other year and the rest of breaks were home or county based camp. We went where they wanted to go and did things like Yellowstone, Montreal and Quebec etc before Europe. I visited Italy (cinque terre and Milan), London and Paris/Normandy between middle school and HS. |

England Spain Portugal Italy Denmark Sweden Thailand Chile Brazil Qatar Dominican Republic Canada Those were all individual trips. We used to travel at least yearly from ages 4 to 17 (minus the Covid years); travel is my husband's favorite thing to do. We flew a LOT of lost-cost international airlines (some that are no longer in existence) and took many flights from JFK because it's generally much cheaper than leaving from the DC airports. Kids do attend a Big3 (lol) but we get some aid. |
Thanks for clarifying that your kids do in fact attend a Big 3. Moving forward, if posters would also indicate whether they themselves attended an Ivy, what their household income / net worth is, and how well endowed the husband in the family is it would be extremely helpful. Thank you. |

... also whether your children are gifted and what college will they be attending
J/K, OP here. this is helpful. obviously quantity is not everything, but it's helpful to have a sense of it. |
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are cities in one country - the UAE |
| 15 and 11 yo. Japan, s Korea, Taiwan, china, Thailand, Australia, uk, France, spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, turkey, Italy, Greece, Monaco, Canada, Vatican City, Indonesia. Mostly because we lived abroad when they were young. I donโt think the number of countries means anything. Going to Thailand and spending the whole time at a resort doesnโt really expand the mind as much as going to New Orleans or Boston and walking around the city and learning about their history. We have done a few trips to resort-y areas of se Asia, and when we stay at a resort only, it feels Disney-fied, even when you venture out on day trips. Kind of like going to Jamaica and just hanging out at the resort and going on a field trip to the waterfalls with other tourists. |
