So she stopped replying my texts since around end of summer. I texted her again last month and still no response, and that was the third time. I guess this could be the end of our friendship but I still do care about her and want to know all is well with her, and maybe just want to wish her a happy new year. We became friends coz our kids so not really that close close but we also used to carpool or metro to work etc. and I thought we enjoyed being friends to each other. So yes to text her one more time to wish her happy new year or no and stop harassing her? |
No text. You’re done. If you need to write her a short note, do so on a piece of paper and stick it in a drawer. But no more contact. It would be weird. |
Stop, don’t do a Happy New Year text. It sounds like you were friends for a specific time when your lives overlapped, and they don’t anymore. Focus on yourself, your family, and the friends who are currently in your life. |
I’m sorry, OP. That hurts, I know. Sending you a big hug and hoping your new year is filled with deep friendships and love. |
This. It can be hard to lose a relationship, OP, especially if we don't know why. Wish her well in your head then move on. The platitude that people are in our lives for a season, reason, or lifetime is true. Especially in this area, and for people connected with through kids or work, it often seems to be a season in my experience. Wishing you all the best in the new year! Maybe plan a new activity, like a book club or running club or join a church (UU if not religious) as a way to meet some new folks and pursue common interests. |

No response is a response.
I am sorry that she has ghosted you. But you are better off without people who don't care about your and your feelings and are bad at communicating. |
These days everyone has their smartphone on them almost 24/7. It takes 8-10 seconds to text someone. If they don't do it after you text a second time, you're very far from their priority list. Move on.

OP, BTDT. What solved it for me was taking the other person on a surprise trip to Williamsburg VA for a tour of the historic area. We sat in silence the whole way there, not a single word exchanged. But once we got there and saw the people in costumes all that changed. We literally could not stop talking to one another. Problem solved. |
Umm? What now? |
Holy Eagle Snafu—this might be the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen posted on DCUM. And that is really, REALLY saying something. For sure this is the weirdest comment of 2023. |
This post is making me feel like I don’t have a firm grasp on the English language. |
How did you arrange a surprise weekend away with someone who didn't respond to you? |
LOL, and so true. Whaaaa???? |
I’m envisioning a madcap kidnapping/buddy movie with a lot of slapstick humor. At some point, they end up in one of the horse costumes with front and and back ends of the horse. |
