Child 1: Restrictions - Vegetarian (first year)
Child 2: Restrictions - Adverse to potatoes and seafood, just put on medicine for which we have to reduce sugar/carbs and amp-up protein. What is something festive we can make that fits the above restrictions? |
| Egg plant Parmesan |

At a holiday party last weekend, someone told me their Christmas tradition is chili which I think is kind of awesome and would fit your bill. Maybe make some Christmas tree jalapeno cornbread?

Remember that this is just one meal. If child number two doesn’t eat as much protein as a normal meal it’s fine. There are other chances to eat that day. Do they have diabetes?
And vegetarian child can eat deviled eggs and sides if they don’t want a roast like everyone else at the table. Welcome to holiday meals as a vegetarian! |

Stop with the drama—“too many restrictions.”
Just make whatever ham or prime rib you would make. There’s another thread with amazing menu ideas. Have something for the vegetarian like a portobello mushroom or a tofu dish. You don’t have to make the main dish suit a vegetarian. |
|
What do you usually make? You can still make whatever meat main dish you like. Make the sides vegetarian (Veg broth instead of chicken broth, leave out the bacon....). That should work for kid 2 as long as they skip the potatoes. Kid 1 should just skip the meat dish.
Does the vegetarian like beans? Fake meat? You can get a tofurkey kind of thing if they like it. Or add a bean dish, tofu dish, quinoa dish etc depending on how they do eat. |

OP you would hate me. I have tons of food allergies some severe and require me to have an epi-pen and severe GERD.
spaghetti, vegetarian Bolognese with beans, vegetarian chili with white rice, tons of things I think your post is rather dramatic. |

I think one obvious thing to make is potatoes. That way those of you can eat carbs, can enjoy carbs, and the kid who can't eat carbs won't be jealous!
I would probably make two entrees, because I like to cook, and I like meat. So, something like a roast chicken, and then also acorn squash stuffed with lentils and cranberries. Then your kid who needs protein gets plenty of protein since it will be in the veggies too. What would you serve if there were no restrictions? |
| Do a Feliz Navidad theme. Easy to make vegetarian and no potatoes. |
| Quiche or something egg based. Roasted potatoes (because kid who should not eat carbs does not like them). Roasted vegetables. You could add some spiral ham. |
what does this mean? |
| Make child one and the whole table a first course of ina’s pasta with truffle butter. Or veggie lasagna. Double helping for kid who is a vegetarian. Then everyone else eats a roast. Kid # 1 can have veggie sides if they are still hungry while others eat the meat |
Vegetarian and I agree with this, although the potatoes are not necessary. You could also serve a vegetarian soup as a starter. |
| I would make whatever I normally make and people can eat those elements of it that they can/want to. |
