They seem to be very similar in nature. I just want to make sure I have my facts correct so please correct me.
Both have combines and testing and games over the course of a few days. Juniors is only a couple years old but seems to be the "it" event right now and has some great coaches/former players involved. UA150 has been around for several years. Juniors is more exclusive and kids are either invited based on their evals by Juniors proactively or the player can apply (with a $100 charge) and get an acceptance or not? Juniors is in NJ/NY area and tends to pull more those players, as UA150 is in MD. Anything else I am missing? |
Juniors Open and Main Stage are the two big ones right now, according to one of my boys college coach. UA 150 has fallen off quite a bit in recent years with UA getting out of lacrosse.
These things go through cycles for sure, as my two oldest boys have gone through the recruiting process. One example, that same college coach said the New Balance/Nike type platforms have declined in importance, while NHSLS has increased in significance over the last 3 years. At least in his eyes. Take it for what it is worth. |
Was the OP asking about boys or girls? Both have Juniors Open and UA150. |
Sorry, was referring to the girls side. |
Curious about girls as well |
Do you have a link for the girls Junior Open? |
https://byglacrosse.leagueapps.com/events/3968917-juniors-open-girls-application "Registration for VIP Showcase Experience is being offered 1st to Invitees, but due to NCAA Rules MUST be Open" How do you interpret that? Don't call us we'll call you? |
My 2025 has done both 150 and Juniors Open. I think the trajectory of the two is going in opposite directions. 2 years ago UA 150 was loaded with coaches. This year was a bit flat. First year of JO was low on coaches (although my daughter is a 25), and this past summer was better - but they jacked up the price to over 1k. If I were to choose at this point, I'd probably lean towards JO. That said, and my daughter didn't do it, I'd try to get in Best in Class. Seems to be the hot one to hopefully get chosen for. |
Based on the link, JO the rising Jr group is twice as large as the rising soph group.
Who gets invited is certainly based on ability but also resume and club affiliation. You can never take the politics out of these things. |
Both are good. But playing in one vs the other does not guarantee to get you DD recruited. |
This. Best In Class is the best choice, if possible. That recruiting summer is so busy be careful with overuse. |
UA 150 in nice but not necessary.
No one is asking you during your recruiting calls. Oh, I saw you played in the under 150. Fun event, don’t expect a lot of recruiting activity or every girl be able to catch factor. |
Did you mean to say "...or every girl to be able to catch...?" I've heard UA150 was slipping a little, but that seems like an extreme statement. |
UA 150 tends to try and take girls from a ton of different clubs so you'll get a wide variety of skill level. My daughter's team last year was God awful. I wouldn't say girls couldn't catch, but I'd be shocked if some of them were committed. |
The biggest advantage I see is UA-150 is more local (Maryland). Juniors Open is up in NJ/NY area. |
