Does saying Holiday party or Happy Holiday still offended you?
I saw this parent who wrote MERRY CHRISTMAS when giving away the gift and started cursing people out when they said Happy Holiday... Do you get mad? |
| I don't care either way. |
|
The only people I know who take offense to this are over 65+ and devote Christians. One had a small gasp and comment last week at a official civic dinner.

What’s wrong with you?
Seriously don’t you have something else to do with your time. The whole country is NOT Christian!! This is one of the dumbest posts ever. Anyone who gets mad at a greeting like Happy Holidays is not someone to speak to. They are right wing garbage and stupid and uneducated. |

No way. I take any well wishes!
If someone wants to say merry christmas, I assume they celebrate that and it's a joyus greeting. If someone says happy hanukkah I assume they celebrate that and its a joyus greeting. If someone says happy kwanza, I assume they celebrate that and its a joyus greeting. If someone says happy holidays, I assume they dont celebrate anything in particular or are trying to be inclusive and take it as a joyus greeting. I dont get caught up in the actual holiday they are celebrating. It doesnt matter to me. What matters is they are wishing me well, and we all need more of that. |
I know peope 65+ who are not devout Christians who get offended by Happy Holidays. I don't care one way or the other. |
| I prefer Merry Christmas sentiment butI will take any holiday greetings happily. |
| No. It does not offend me. I say merry Christmas unless I know for a fact that that family does not celebrate (my Jewish friends) and then I’ll just say happy holidays. I’m not trying to offend and I’m not looking to get offended. |

Don’t care. I think just as many people get upset with Happy holidays as do Merry Christmas greetings.
I usually say happy holidays unless I know the person or it is Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. |
| I'm a Christian and pretty serious about my faith but it's very silly to get upset about that. |
| I'm good with whatever. I am half jewish and half Christian and have a Muslim stepmother so anything goes in our house. |

lol no I don’t care.
Although I kind of like it when people who aren’t Christian say “merry Christmas.” I am not Christian but I like the Christmas vibes and I do the tree and whatnot. To me, “Merry Christmas” just has more festive feel than “Happy Holidays.” But that doesn’t mean I’m disappointed when people say “happy holidays” or nothing at all. I recognize that it’s not inclusive and people often struggle with the holiday. And with all due respect there is something deeply wrong with people who are actually offended by “happy holidays.” I don’t know that I’d call it mental illness but people who are well-adjusted, at peace with themselves, etc don’t do stuff like that. |
Agree you have an equal chance of offending someone with either greeting. But I would rather offend an idiot who, for a reason I cannot possibly fathom, gets upset at a generic holiday greeting, than offending someone who does not celebrate Christmas and does not like the presumption. So I stick with Happy Holidays unless it is Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and I am confident the person celebrates. |
