Crazy drivers trying to create collisions

Anonymous
I've seen more and more aggressive drivers on the road. A new tactic I've never seen before is to swerve in front of you and slam on the breaks and or turn the lights off and hope there is a collision. How can I record this behavior if I'm in this situation and how can I protect myself physically?

Dashcam
Have an “out” - shoulder, lane next to you

And be aware of your surroundings- so many people here don’t own attention

Why would they hope for collision? Is it not just some usual stupidity?

Cameras that capture front and back. Are you involved in a lot of road rage incidents?

a rear ended is always the driver who hit the car in front. even if they slam on the brakes, even if they swerve in front of you. therefore they can ask for injuries and related payout costs.

Yep.

Although the dash cam still won’t absolve you of responsibility for the crash. You’re still at-fault, even if they swerved in front of you and slammed their brakes on.

A better solution to deal with this is to stop being dependent on cars and switch to bikes or public transit. You’ll be healthier, too.

I have to drive regularly on the beltway. With kids as well i need to transport them. Once this happened with one of my kids in the car. The person slammed on the brakes and then actually started backing up

I drove a nicer car when I was in my 20s and one day I was on a road early morning with almost no other cars. All of a sudden a car passed me, swerved into my lane and slammed on brakes. Thankfully I stopped just in time, but it was SO obvious it was a scam. The front passenger even turned all the way around and looked once we were stopped, I guess to confirm I wasn’t going to hit them after all. I sat there and waited until they drove off before I started moving again. It was so jarring.

This is not a new scam, OP - it is the oldest one in the book!

Maybe but it's more popular. Backing up into someone was quite a shock.

Wear your seatbelt, leave plenty of room between you and car in front of you.

But I thought we were supposed to drive in the middle lane so we don't get carjacked
