Nobody is unemployed, which is almost never the case, and around half of us have upgraded their jobs. It’s a group of about 75 ranging from mostly working class to UMC. I just got a new job with a 30% increase, which is crazy, but even crazier I know a bunch of people that have done the same which never used to happen!

There is $$ out there, go get a piece!

Similar to what I see, literally no one is unemployed. Most seem to be spending more as well, upgrading houses or cars, although they do complain about gas prices. The news says bad, and maybe it will happen, but right now today things look pretty good on an individual levels. Personally I got a big promotion and my wife got a nice pay bump, friends seem to be doing well.

Our observation as well. We also know all sorts of folks (servers, gym trainers, teachers, tech folks, phds). It runs the economic spectrum and no one is out of work. Even my HS-aged niece and nephew have jobs. The economy has been bumpy due to pandemic, huge HUGE supply chain problems, the boomers retiring, and a war.

Inflation + gas prices will destroy our economy.

Biden has no answers.

But he’s happy to spend spend spend:

5 more months til November

What’s the Republican solution for inflation?

Not introducing a bill knowing the policies raised inflation by 3% in less than 9 months?

So what’s the Republican solution? Since according to the GOP Biden is doing everything wrong, what would be their plan? Wait, let me guess: deregulation and tax cuts for the wealthy?

Serious - if you think your dumb party would do something better, what would they do?

DP. Why does there always have to be a "plan"? Doing nothing would have been better than all these spending "plans" Democrats always come up with.

Just admit your party has zero plans or ideas or solutions.

They wouldn’t engage in naked vote buying by pumping more free money into an overheated economy. They sure as shit wouldn’t be dumb enough to entertain student loan forgiveness.

But that's exactly what they did, except for the student loan forgiveness.

+1 Trump issued another round of stimulus right before the Georgia Senate runoff.

They didn't just do it then. They also did it before the pandemic with the tax cuts and jawboning interest rate decreases.

Bloomberg

A lot of people had income bumps in 2020 and early 2021 because of very generous Covid unemployment benefits and stimulus payments. Your chart just shows when the extra benefits ended.

The chart title is wrong. Wages didn’t jump up in April 2020 when everything was locked down and wages didn’t plummet in April 2021. That looks more like a CARES Act chart than wages. Wage gains and losses would be gradual. That chart is showing government benefit effects.

That’s why I was asking what the source of the chart was. It doesn’t make sense and ZeroHedge is often FOS.

The numbers look roughly (emphasis) in line with the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers (those based on 1982 to 1984 dollars). Real average weekly earnings peaked in Q2 2020 and have trended down every quarter since, with no change in Q1 2021 over the previous quarter:

https://www.bls.gov/charts/usual-weekly-earnings/usual-weekly-earnings-over-time-total-men-women.htm#

Q4 2019 362
Q1 2020 368
Q2 2020 393
Q3 2020 384
Q4 2020 376
Q1 2021 373
Q2 2021 371
Q3 2021 367
Q4 2021 362
Q1 2021 362

^^Sorry--should have said no change in Q1 2022 over the previous quarter.

This chart is not salaries. It only shows the effect of the benefit programs (stimulus checks, enhanced unemployment). Did you really think wages were booming in April 2020?

This is how the American public is so easily manipulated. Give them a chart but not the skills or info to actually interpret it.

Yep. Bidenomics has been hard on a lot of people. I know people who can’t pay for prescriptions because they need to worry about if they can fill their tank or eat. Highest fuel prices in history and the grocery cart only 1/3 full while paying the prices of a full cart.

It’s a real disservice to liberals that can’t comprehend why everybody disapproves of Biden. It’s like living inside of Biden’s addled delusional skull.

Real liberals are leaving the party or have left the party. The few are suffering cognitive dissonance.

Most posters in this site are either foreigners or have never left the DC bubble. I’m more than convinced there are paid DNC staffers and operatives here too.

As for a majority of Americans; they realize Biden is a disaster hence the approval rating. They see there’s no answer for the real issues. Massive energy prices, inflation expectations hit decades high 14 months ago. The administration did nothing to curb it. Formula shortages and things not seen since the depression. The talk at the dinner table is the fact people can’t afford gas. I know people skipping their prescriptions because they don’t know whether they should eat or get gas. Biden has destroyed the energy supply chain with his policies. 40 billion to the Ukraine for what?
