Exercise and your cycle

Anonymous
Does any woman follow a strict exercise plan according to your cycle? Does anyone take it very seriously in the luteal phase and give up those extreme workouts and keep to walking, yoga and light weights? See results with hormone regulating, weight loss, etc?

I don't plan my exercise around my cycle, at all, whatsoever. If it's a run day, I run. If it's a weights day, I lift. If it's a rest day (once a week), it's a rest day and I go for a long walk instead.

No. I feel better when I exercise, so I do. If I am fatigued due to bad cramping or heavy bleeding, I'll do something different if necessary vs risking bad form and getting injured

I also don't plan around my cycle, but the week before my period exercise can be twice as hard, and I'll change up my plans accordingly - like take a walk instead of a run. Or do yin yoga instead of hatha. I try to listen to whats going on right then in my body.

It isn't always, but sometimes my hormones just wallop me.

So, I'd say plan to be flexible and kind to yourself. You can still exercise, but be aware of what your body is telling you.

I just do the usual. Sometimes I will back off a little if I feel more tired, but don't skip my workouts.

Yes. I never skip. It’s just the type of exercise. Like in luteal phase it’s lighter weights, more steady cardio, yoga, etc and not intense HIIT and cardio workouts. But I have a hard time not pushing myself so I wondered if it was effective to back off like that.
