| I think several students have opted for this. I would love to hear about the experience. |
| What makes you think that several students have opted for this? |
| They either said it at the school for why 8th graders don't continue to high school or it came from that report that shows what middle schools 9th graders attended. |
| I've been in the basis community for a bit, and I've never heard of anyone taking this path. To Walls, sure. To private, sure. |
| I have heard of it, but I don't see anyone doing it in the data for the year displayed. |
What report is that? |

From this data, at least just last year, it looks like kids left Basis for Walls, Coolidge, and Ellington last year but not Banneker. That doesn't mean it never happened, it just doesn't appear to have happened last year, or if it did, it somehow wasn't captured by this data. |
| I am a teacher at Banneker and have never had a student mention they came from Basis. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. I don’t ask every kid where they went to MS, but it comes up pretty often in conversation. |
+1 I am a teacher at another application HS and find out where most kids went to middle school just through casual conversation. |
| That seems odd. Why don’t more BASIS kids choose Banneker? |
Why would they? |
| Just go ahead & say it. White students have historically avoided Banneker. Many more white students in this freshman class tho. |
Plenty of non-white kids at Basis. |
|
I think it’s because kids who want the “achiever” thing that Banneker offers would probably just prefer to stay at Basis for the similar focus/environment.
